ROMO backs Gov. Abiodun's plan to register motorcyclists, introduction of jacket by Ninejaman: 12:06pm On Jun 21, 2021
The Riders and Owners of Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO) has declared support for the Ogun State government's planned registration and introduction of jackets to commercial motorcyclists operating in the State.

The State Government had expressed worry over the lingering security challenges linked to unregistered Okoda riders operating in the State.

The Government, therefore revealed that it has concluded plans to register, co-ordinate and monitor the activities and operations of motorcyclists in the State as part of efforts at addressing the security challenges.

Following the Government's decision, the leadership of ROMO has threw its weight behind the move, describing it as a good step in the right direction.

In a statement by the ROMO Media Team, in Abeokuta on Monday, the union warned that, it would no longer tolerate any act of indiscipline or violation of laws guiding the operation of commercial operation by any motorcyclist in the State.

"The union, in partnership with the State Police Command, the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) and other law enforcement agencies will embark on an enforcement tour across the State to clamp down on operators of unregistered motorcycles.

"We in total support of the Ogun Government's plan to register and introduce jackets to commercial motorcyclists operating in the State.

"We will no long fold our arms and watch criminal elements hiding under the guise of commercial motorcyclists continue to perpetrate their criminal acts and plunge the State into serious crisis."
