Which breach are you talking about?... Every data in Nigeria that's stored in bits and bytes are already all breached by those who need the data, so stop this beer parlour nonsense.

By the way every email and telephone call by Buhari is always captured and stored somewhere outside Nigeria and analysed by one oyinbo person when sabi speak Fulani and pidgin English.

MainOne offers Azure stack hub, which is a version of Azure running on on-premise servers

Of course you know a whole lot. What's the essence of having Galaxy backbone or Content Oasis as the government's ISP, if they cannot collaborate in this regard? I no kuku blame them, even Galaxy BB outsources majority of their connectivity services. There was a country indeed!
lessonotes:
Of course, they would need on premise Data Centers, which I believe Galaxy Backbone could give, but no, they want their own data center. I just hope the centers would have DR backed up 100% of data integrity.

It would be against National Security if we host our data in a foreign cloud, thou Microsoft Azure Firewall boasts of availability at least 99.95% of the time, when deployed within a single Availability Zone; meaning you're 99% sure of your data in the cloud. AWS am not sure. Even Pentagon does businesses with these cloud providers, you're sure of every kind of protection from DR, to firewalls and so much more.

Anyway, Some people are about to swim in largesse and give testimony lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

N25 Billion might just be too much; but what do i know.

90 servers to register 100 million people, AWS cloud service would solve this for way less than 10million naira.

Don't mind them....some of these our politician are just thieves who have not good to offer the citizen...they don't have the foresight that the nigeria population is constantly growing....now they need billions of naira for unbudgeted storage servers ...

Lol you too think. Saving a country's data on a foreign server. Does it make sense to you? I understand where the $25B is coming from but still, it's cumbersome.

As if it's the first time such happens? Is the naira printed in Nigeria, is our international passport produced in Nigeria? There are rules and laws guiding data security in these cloud companies

Just put everything in aws s3 bucket using life cycle policies after a month to s3 glacier which is even cheaper. I can architect this for them with just 100m grin

NDPR won't allow it.
The data has to hosted in Nigeria since it contains citizen's information.

10M NGN is less than 30K USD! Are you sure you understand AWS billing?

And why would you need 90 servers?

Secondly, we would not use regular servers. It must be gov cloud. Azure is best for single for point to point control .. from mobile devices, to laptop to desktop integration, monitoring, and authz/authn all in one space.

Cloud services cost can easily spiral out of control. This past month several publications and complaints have arisen in regards to AWS and the mystery behind the billing.

God why? Why let these people still live?

A fucking 1gb drive can store millions of data. It's 12k.

So if you need a server how much will it cost?
Even if you want your own ISP

Lol. IMO national identity data should not be Hosted on foreign severs. Nigeria should have its own servers.

has nigeria maintained anything in its life before? if they haven't why own what you can't maintain.

having servers in nigeria or anywhere is not the issue,
the one they already have where is it stored? can the data they have already can't be breached?

NoonMasamune:

but is it advisable to store governemt information with a private company? we are talking about a huge privacy risk.

If they don't chop the money. storing that info within our borders is more acceptable
