How can you be diplomatic with blood-thirsty leaders? It is kill or be killed. Some of their leaders refuse to leave when their tenure is up. Don't take talks to a gun fight. There are already some speculations that Buhari may refuse to leave. He gave a hint that he ain't handing over power to a leader not duly elected. That's a loaded statement that's open for interpretation. Can you be diplomatic in such a situation since he is willing to murder oppositions?

Africa is mainly an artificial creation where people who have no business being together as one nation due to the fact that they share nothing in common was fussed together to form nations. Ethiopia presents similar situation as Nigeria. The rebels re mainly the Christian North who don't want to have anything to do with the other part which are mainly Muslims.

incidentally, you don't know the history of Tigray. Tigray is the progenitor of Ethiopia state. They are No. 1 region in Ethiopia . Unfortunately, even if they win to get their own state of around just 50k kilometres square, it is a demotion, they can't defeat having enemies on both Ethiopian and Eritrean sides , and they will just reduce their power and relevance. The best bet for them is to remain in Ethiopia which is their creation and take over the whole of Ethiopia but it is impossible because the other tribes have more population and economic power . They are being backed by the Western media and of course probably those enemies like Egypt and Sudan that Ethiopia got from building its own dam on the Nile. They can't win but can get more political concessions.

It still amazes me that the same President given Nobel prize for peace is the one leading this war.

There's really no sense in it. Every country in every continent is made this way. It's the hatred and bigotry against others as being displayed in some African countries that is lesser in the countries of those other continents. Canada is more dividend than Nigeria and even have French and English sides living in same country and even Isreal has Arabs and Jews in same state of Isreal. So nothing is special in how African nations emerged. Ethiopia is a creation of Tigray, not created by any colonial power yet today the same Tigray is waging a war against the country it created.
