Records confirm the abduction of several students at a secondary school in Kaduna State in northwestern Nigeria.

Reports say that gunmen attacked Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi in Chikun Local Government Area on Monday morning and abducted several students.

Reuters quoted the school's founder as saying that about 150 people had not been seen since the attack.

Authorities say they have rescued 26 hostages.

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna branch, Reverend Joseph Hayab, who confirmed the news to BBC Hausa, said his son was among the students at the school but escaped.

While the number of students abducted is unknown, Reverend Hayab said on Friday we counted about "180 children who were part of the dormitory but this morning the number of people we received was not more than 24 to 27".

However, Rev. Hayab said the school was surrounded by security forces.

"They ... overpowered the school’s security guards and made their way into the students hostel where they abducted an unspecified number of students into the forest," he said.

But in a statement issued by the Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Muhammed Jalige said, “In the early hours of today, Monday 5th July 2021 at about 0143hrs the Command received a report that armed bandits in large number had gained access into Bethel Baptist Secondary School Kujuma in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.

“They shot berserkly, overpowered the school’s security guards and made their way into the students’ hostel where they abducted an unspecified number of students into the forest.

“On the receipt of the unfortunate incident, a joint team of the Nigeria Police, Army and Navy Operatives were immediately mobilised to the area with a mission to rescue the abducted students unhurt.

“The Operatives gave the bandits a hot pursuit occasioned by a tactical application of weapons and succeeded in rescuing twenty-six (26) students including a female teacher safely.

“However, the rescue operation is still ongoing to ensure that all victims are safely returned. Officers involved in the said operation are charged to ensure no stone is left unturned with a view to successfully accomplish the rescue mission since resources will be availed to them without delay.

“The Command is therefore encouraging parents not to be deterred by the recent bandits’ activities in the state targeting schools and learning institutions as strategic measures will be emplaced to forestall further occurrence of such dastardly act of criminality against innocent children.

“The Command is saddened by the incident and call on all stakeholders on security to unite particularly at this very critical time to safeguard schools in order to guarantee a safe and secured learning environment and other meaningful businesses”.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed seven people over the weekend in Kaduna State.

On Saturday, Governor Nasir El-Rufai announced that he had removed his son from a public school because robbers were trying to kidnap him.

in A sane climate the north would have being "the West African Terrorist State of Iraq".

MumuMmadu BuHaram is more concerned about Maazi Nnamdi Kanu, that he wouldn't care if the North is dragged back to Stone age by his Terrorist brothers.

Who cares, as long as their stupidity is limited in the North..

May Bandits, Iswap and Boko-haram last a thousand years insha Allahbama grin

If this was GEJ government

1. The dwarf in kaduna would have been twitting by now threatening to take GEJ to ICC
2. AMEACHI would have called emergency governor forums meeting
3. Buhari would have tagged the attack as an attack against the north and vow to make dog and baboon romance in blood
4. Lair Mohammed would have released pictures of bullet holes on the gate of the school and tag ICC to it.
5. The bullion van criminal would have called for referendum and impeachment.
6. Mannawerry, HELLANUS, onion goat and the BMC 30k animals would have raid nairaland by now calling GEJ unprintable names (they can't even afford data now, they feed ones a day).

In the meantime Boko Haram has appointed a new governor over borno state while buhari has failed to provide job for his 30k zombies. Oh, what a shame!

Let's come to the conclusion of the matter, Nigeria is not working, let's go our separate ways

The terrorists referred to as bandits by the government are having a field day in the north. The sanctity of Nigerian lives does not count anymore. When those who deserve punishment are pampered for political reasons, the law abiding citizens will be at the mercy of these pampered terrorists. Somalia will have better security than Nigeria if we continue at this rate. There is no better indicator of failure of state than the breakdown of law and order. Nigerians are urged by the government to forgive terrorists who the government claims have repented and the country continuosly bleeds in the hands of these murderers. Repentance without remorse and attitudinal change is deceit.

Government knows where bandits are located, their camps and their sponsors. Government knows those who speak for bandits and negotiate between them and the victims' relations. That Nigeria is one of most terrorized countries in the world today is not by accident but by the making of our politicians who play politics and ethnicity with all issues.
Let the anger of Almighty God come upon those leaders, who made a once most peaceful, promising and fast developing country a terrorist den, economically useless and a country that beg to feed.
Obvious, this is not the same country I new when I was growing up. Everything is messed up!!!

Gumi dey look at these mothers and he will still lead prayer in the mosque........may Allah forgive him
