Illegal structures springing up along one of the major roads leading to Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, have been marked for removal. The marking exercise was conducted by a joint task force, led by officials of Anambra Physical Planning Board. The board's Executive Chairman, Barrister Chike Maduekwe says approval was not obtained by such developers who he described is illegal, as the structures were supposed to be built one hundred meters away from the road. This is excellent news. Not just remove the structures, those that put them up must pay fines before any plan is approved for the area again. I don't know why people can never get approval to build! Worse still, they always build so close to the road! Some even build on top of the drainage gutter and block it. In every sane society the structures were supposed to be built one hundred meters (or more) away from the road. All states in Nigeria should Come to Lagos state for more sight-seeing and how things are done, even if they cannot go abroad. Lagos State : A country within a country!!
