About 80% of what we pray to God for here has already been done by their government over there so religion doesn't really take front seat. Over here we pray for everything from power supply to traffic and even bad roads like God is going to come down and fix everything for us so the difference is very clear.

Overseas provide 90% of Nigeria prayer point, when you get what you need, prayer reduces.

A lot of Nigerians go to church not because they love or fear God but because of what they hope to gain from praying to him and profitable connections to other church members.

When they get abroad and dont need prayers to have their basic and aspirational needs met, and do not need "connections" to advance in life ...God and his church members becomes useless to them.

That is why i respect Nigerians who still attend church although most sef na still the need of " belonging to a familiar community " dey make them come.

Nigerians are ardent church goers but not real Christians in the true sense of it. Na dem go church pass,na dem dey corrupt pass...steal, kill and destroy.

The difference between us is we think being religious is bowing down to worship God, which they too used to do but now understand that worshipping God is "Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth", and if you do these things, you will indeed surely be blessed.

When you get overseas, UK, for instance, you learn that manna does not fall down into your laps from heaven, but that you must work for your own manna yourselves like they have learnt to do.

They accomplish this by eating the fruits of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that we refuse to eat for fear that we shall surely die on the day that we eat, despite reading that Adam and Eve did not surely die, but found it good for gaining wisdom, and their eyes opened, and they went on to live for 900 or so years during which they populated the earth with what culminated in you.

The day will surely come when we too will stop believing and trembling like demons and use our God given senses instead.

Very true. If you're a citizen of a country with very low unemployment rate, will you be praying for a job? If you're giving birth in a country with very low infant and maternal mortality rate, will you be casting and binding in the hospital reception with all your church members when your wife is in labor road? If there is 247 power, you will be praying for NEPA to bring light, or for heavy rain not to fall because of flooded road or for ASUU not to go on strike.

Not that Nigerians are less religion in abroad than in Nigeria.. Nigerians do travels for religions sake, e.g, Israel and Saudi Arabia.. even some of our people that travels to European countries are still religious. But the difference is that, over there, time count a lot, time is money. Some one given one year visa want to archive the same thing with someone given five year visa, which means he will never have time to go to church or look for friends, he will always be busy.. the other reason is that, must of our people over there, their papers are not complete, they always mind where they enters. for you to be recognized by any religions body, your papers has to be completed and they will know the kind of work you do. No religious leader will want to be identified with someone that has security issues, some of our people are doing illegal work over there, mostly SCAM!. the religion is been regulated over there, nothing like using your loud speaker to disturb others there, nothing like group of people standing at a junction singing and clapping, using mega phone and advertising miracle on the street. If you advertise miracle and you cannot perform it in there presence, they call you a scammer.. sometimes bills will not even make you have time.. but to be sincere, some Nigerians out there are more religious than we in Nigeria. we have redeem, deeper life, CAC church, baptist Church and so on, and most of their pastors are not full time, they work and don't depends on members..

Most non muslim Nigerians dont care about religion as much as your thinking OP, not living in nigeria where secularism is stronger whether that be the new world or northwestern europe alleviates the need to attend church or worship sessions with other people and hence Nigerians live their lives in accordance to what they actually want
