Arrant nonsense

Most kids are very intelligent and bright academically, hence at 14 and 15 years they are done with waec. They will have to wait 3 good years before attempting jamb they are not sure of.

We see kids of 11 years in the western world as degree and masters holders and these fools in the Senate celebrate them, tell me if laws like these abound in such countries, would there have been feats like that.

Nonsense and Buhari, they will send their kids outside for education and frustrate the common man in Nigeria.
shocked
Which country is an 11 year old a masters holder ?

The issue of age to write UTME is not one of the thousands of challenges favour the country presently.

This is a point that should be addressed.
Even recruitment in some federal positions put an age limit. E.g. NPF, NA, etc.

That's a very very tiny minority of kids.

Plus some of those kids eventually break down.

One of my siblings went to secondary school with a girl who entered at the age of 8 years old. Naturally, the child was still a child....and she still repeated the year.

Let kids develop slowly, not quick quick.
if you see or have a dull kid, let them move at their snail speed. We have smart kids and will also support them to move as fast and as far as they can go. Even the worthless President's son is getting married to a foreign trained girl with a degree at 19. I got into secondary school at age 8 and ended up just fine. Infinitely dumb congregation of dolts who
never have anything reasonable to deliberate on.

[quote author=Citygal post=103669311]18 is still okay.

There is no need to rush education.

Take your time, discover yourself and what you really want to do career-wise before jumping into the university.

At least, a different but refreshing opinion. As someone in the education space, I can tell everyone for free that rushing our kids through school has not really helped the kids. Most parents want to live their lives through their children. Rushing them through school, choosing courses for them. The children are gradually losing their childhood. Going to university or college is not only about intelligence or brilliance, maturity is also important.

Some people do wish they earnest their real potentials before going to the uni.

thank you jor .. na only u dey reason wel .
in recent years., it has been observed that most teen skip classes just to Write o.level without having proper knowledge of their respective career, hence the high rate of crime when they go to high institution. within one month, they have turn to fraudsters, ritualists, e.t.c, without knowing the implications of what they are going into..lack of contentment.

in other Africa countries , after writing your o.level , u learn a one year compulsory trade.. before proceeding to any higher institute.
that is one of the requirements.

Don't mind them. In addition to your points above, they didn't factor prolonged strike by ASUU, NASU, SSANU etc. that make a student who matriculated at 14yrs graduate at 24.

So age is the new basis for academical advancement? In UK Someone is a medical doctor at 21. Normally Brilliant kids should Skip and buy time. I don't know but we have so many educational failures as leaders. You Push on the bright kids so they are stretched and keep back the slower pupils until they have mastered the basics. Without the basics they cannot learn harder subjects regardless of their age. I strongly believe this is a wrong move.

Might not work because under buhari administration, jamb has become a revenue generating agency

Some people go to Church/Mosque but have completely removed the fear of God from their hearts
JAMB registration fee is lower under Buhari admin than under Goodluck Jonathan
Yet JAMB remits billions to FG while under Jonathan JAMB remitted less than N100m to FG
Former Registrar of JAMB (under Jonathan), Ojerinde, wants to return money he stole, but the govt says he must face trial

But the youth who want good governance are not happy that JAMB charges less and still returns money to government. One can imagine this type of person holding public office

Age shouldn't be criteria here.we are not looking for elders or maturity here but intellectuals.if you're not qualified @ 15 per say,how then did you pass or If were not competent enough for a Job how then did you get the Job?The reason why some people repeat one course for 5yrs no be because Dem no too mature na because Dem too dull.

Rubbish! Why is this country slopping towards anachronism? What would be the benefits of pegging someone's development? An under-18 could rear cow, but cannot write Jamb? Even when we have 18 year olds as College Grads in the U.S.?

There was never a country, bytruly!

Rearing cows alone? What about the ones being forced into marriage and VVF before 18!

Some people still write jamb till 21 years before gaining admission and they still didn’t know what to do with lives .

Age has little or nothing to do with self discovery. Some discover what they want to do by 10 years ,some at 50 years. Heck, some don’t even discover till they die. Associating age with education is misleading
