I have been following the events of kanu's trials and initially the government were eager to go ahead with his trial but all of a sudden, the trial was halted. The same date the court asked the government to present him for trial is the same date the government is approved for annual vacation for the judiciary and we was wondering, what could be the problem?, does it mean that the government does not want to go ahead with the trial any longer?, then it dawn on me that the reason could be because:-
1. They want to persuade him to drop the agitation for Biafra
2. Persuade him by all means necessary to help rat out his associates, sponsors and prominent members who are sympathetic to his struggle.
The most important of all is to influence him in other to influence his associates to keep shut just as they did to uwazuruike . By implications it means they will make to him an offer better than what they offered to him the last time he was arrested. It now left to be seen if they will succeed in making him to defect to their side. Why am saying this is, in the history of activism in Nigeria, the government have succeeded most of the time in gagging and persuading those activists both for Seccession and restructuring into silence. I just hope and pray that kanu will not end like the others because right now, he our hope and an example to show that there are people still holding on their principles and beliefs nor matter the situation and gains that follows from denouncing and departing from those principles.
