Contrary to the position canvassed by the Commissioner for Technical Services of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC Ubale Maska that Nigeria does not have the adequate 2G and 3G coverage to enable the transmission of election results electronically, AIT has fact checked it to be false.

Appearing before the House of Representatives on Friday as the lawmakers debated the clause on electronic transmission of results, Maska told the House that only 50.3 percent of the over 190, 000 polling units across the country are covered by 2G and 3G networks based on network coverage analysis conducted in 2018.

Lack of independence to stand for the truth is one key factor that is subjecting we Africans to stagnation and backwardness.

Our attempt to dance to the tune of the superior political leadership at the detriment of the people, present and posterity is bad.

Imagine a country with IT savvy guys being ruled by folks with archaic mentality about the reality of modernness and technology.

Must NCC testify to please the ruling party or presidency when what is being debated is for the collective interest of our future.

I won't be surprised if the APC leadership takes us back to the 1950s days of technology. Hacking is not an excuse, the bone of contention is 'transmission of results' and not e-voting.

Hackers can't hack a result when everyone has the copy. Electronic transmission is just a means to do away with manual transporting of results in person and paper. It usually takes longer time to collate due to distance, geography, road, persons and violence.

E-transmission is the way to go. India, the largest democracy in the world is using E-transmission and winners emerge withing 24 hrs of voting.
