Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by Burneracct: 9:46pm On Jul 21
I am a twenty eight year old man. I still live with my parents although I have a job that pays me just under a hundred thousand naira. I haven't had a relationship in a long while and I'm in the process of getting into a relationship but I feel like the fact that I stay with my parents would negatively affect my chances. I'm considering renting an apartment but then these things are quite expensive in lagos. My parents ahve been supportive thus far. Do you think it's a good idea to move out? What affordable housing options are available assuming I'm to move out?

My brother, you never get a good reason to get an apartment of your own.

There's nothing you can't do in your parents house.
You're not a teenager, you're 28 ffs.
If you want total freedom, you can move out.
Bye bye to all that free meals, not having to pay for basic things like light etc.

For this Nigeria economy, please stay till you gather some funds, since you are yet to get married. Renting another room outside might be costly. Just make sure you have enough savings and plan for your future. Good luck

If you are living under ur parent's roof and have a room of yours for privacy, then I'd suggest you stay put for the moment while yu gather more funds...
Once you are able to raise enough cash to get an apartment & acquire ur own properties, then you can move out...
No let the opposite gender/relationship push yu to go start race wey ur legs no go fit champion...
Las-Gidi houz rent alone be like akwaibomite brideprice, too expensive; couple with the harsh economy of the country...
Alaye use ur head pan o...

I must say I'm surprised at the comments I have received. I was thinking its silly to have stayed this long. The reason I stayed so far was because I've been saving up to relocate to a foreign country. Most of my friends have their apartments though. I just wanted to see if I was wrong for thinking differently.
Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by Burneracct: 10:06pm On Jul 21
Of course not. But then I can't get married on my current salary. I try to support with payment of bills around the house too.

Looks like relationship is the only reason you want to rent an apartment.
What of your relocation plan which is the bigger goal?
Is it on hold? If not,
Why the distraction?
Are you just horn.y or what?

Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by chieni(f): 11:03pm On Jul 21
well nothing stops you from being in a relationship while you are in your parents house. In my opinion as long as you have a space of your own in your parents house, its fine staying with them. But if you don't, and you know you are someone who likes his space, then you can save up and take a step.
Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by Burneracct: 11:29pm On Jul 21
The relocation plan is still in progress. I'm trying to be settled before I leave the country. I think having my apartment would show that I'm responsible.
Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by doggedfighter(f): 11:32pm On Jul 21
Show who that you are responsible?
Or the woman you are eyeing?
Let me ask, you want to marry?
Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by Burneracct: 11:40pm On Jul 21
The woman. And yes I want to get married that's the intent behind my dating.
Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by Elporo: 11:43pm On Jul 21

Not silly at all, good you've been saving up cos it will sure do you a great deal.. Yeah, most guys around same age as you move out of their parents house and move right into their own apartment orr shared apartments.. But then it shouldn't be just cos you're putting yourself back into the dating pool and being unsure about your chances.. How about if it is very far from where you work? So much traffic that you often get home late & exhausted? Is the environment toxic for you?
Your parents have been supportive, well I think that's a good one esp in these crazy times when there's high rate of inflation everywhere and people are struggling to settle bills here bills there more bills miscellanous bills & not-so distant future bills.. Lasgidi sef with im own stress, keep saving up o bros, everywhere go stewww soonest.. Ehennn so you wan japa leave us for UAR bah, issoraiit lol.. All the best.

Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by doggedfighter(f): 8:00am On Jul 22
If you will relocate shortly after marriage.
Stay in your parent's house.
Discuss with your partner about this arrangement.
Some abroad husbands who have SANE parents that live in spacious houses go for this arrangement.

It’s not like there’s pressure or anything to be ashamed of, since everyone knows the situation of the country.
Re: Should I Move Out Of My Parent's House by waywardpikin: 7:01pm On Jul 22
Bruv, I moved out after my service year. At that point I was 27. It was a no-brainer for me even though my parents really wanted me to stay. They acted liked they wondered why I was so eager to leave, but I knew that if I stayed:
1. I'd become lazier
2. I'd be more prone to follow the vision they had for my life instead of the one I have for myself
And most importantly:
3. Because they would have frustrated my life
Today, I dare say I'm better for it. I'm not where I want to be but I'm a very long way from where I used to be.
Whether people say you want to fornicate or not, move out! You are old enough now, too old maybe, and you need to begin the process of living on your own and gathering properties. You can't escape this as a man.
Friendly warning: Tins cost oooo

Exactly! This is the case for most hustlers and people who are ambitious and do not want distraction. Everything has its Advantages and disadvantages. on your part, just ensure its the right reasons not necessarily to go wild.

Abroad, you move on when you are done with school (perhaps at the age of 22 or thereabout) in my country, parents will call you to come back home to live at 30 years and over.
