1. Discovering the right talents especially within an affordable budget

Due to the limited number of qualified candidates available in the labor force, the competition within the recruitment market for companies looking to hire competent and skillful candidates is highly intensive.

Beating the competition to reach and attract these limited qualified candidates in the labor market requires building a strong employer brand.

Additionally, to ease the process of finding the right candidates faster, organizations must consider

Developing their own talent pool or partner with HR companies with a pool of worthy candidates such as the TalentUp Africa Talent Pool
Leverage HR technologies or partner with HR Tech companies to develop custom HR software or APIs that simplifies the entire process of recruitment.
Outsource to HR companies who are professionals in the industry especially those utilizing technological tools to drive their operations.

2. Dealing with tough employees

Achieving a unified commitment from a large number of people is difficult because of the diversity and the uniqueness each employee brings. Thus managing a multitude of persons effectively requires a dedicated personified approach that recognizes and appreciates every single individual's uniqueness and abilities.

To manage employees who appear to be difficult effectively, pay attention to them, set clear priorities, give clear feedback, let them know the consequences that will accompany their actions and inactions, and finally be supportive by helping them identify what their challenges are and recommending possible solutions.

3. Enforcing compliance to company’s rules of engagement and policies

It’s a common practice to find employees deliberately or unintentionally not paying attention to the company’s policies and rules of engagement from time to time.

Asides from the reputation damages that come with employees not complying with policies, the danger of non-compliance can also attract sanctions from labor and workforce regulatory bodies.

To ensure total compliance from employees,

Develop an employee-workplace policy handbook and walk every employee through the handbook.
Remove or minimize the potential barriers to compliance
Reinforce the policies by organizing training from time to time where you discuss and remind employees of the company’s rules and regulations and why it’s important that they comply with it
Develop programs that appreciate, reward, and encourage employees for compliance

4. Dealing with high employee turnover rate or absenteeism

Recording large numbers of employees leaving a company interferes with the company’s productivity as it reduces the morale of the remaining staff in the workforce which in turn reduces the company’s ability to produce more and make more revenue.
