$36million to build bridge. This money should be used to build fences at the opened and less secured border in the North so as to reduces the influx of these foreign invaders.
Have you kids seen the stretches of desert between Nigeria and Niger? And don't even think you can copy the Israeli or American fence because:

- who will man the fence ( don't say drones + air force o because you have an already corrupted force)
- if there are breaks and sabotages, how do you stop it?
- the money for constructing such do not exist as yet, that's below the table /scale of preference/ needs

Pls, before Posting, always think things through.

Was thinking I was the only one who saw that bogus sum, the RCCG road construction has opened our guys to the real cost of this things...

But the government would still want to cash out by any means possible..

I see some comments that are really annoying, when will people ever understand that government is a continum, the mindset of people on this platform is very dangerous and archaic.
Is it a bad idea for a minister to finish a project started by another administration and take credit for it.
That's the reason why you have so many abandoned project in Nigeria, apart from the fact that they want to steal whenever they initiate new project,it's this archaic idea that there's any kind of reward given to whoever starts a new project.
If Fashola likes,he can Use 2b$ to complete that bridge, one thing is certain, another minister will not come around to complete that bridge and road.
We have project that have been going on for 30 years in this country, until we jettison this archaic idea of always starting new project,we will never move forward with our infrastructure.

It will reduce it. It at least make the military efforts more focused because right now where for the border wey they wan fend them off when the whole northern border to Niger and Chad is very very porus with no security.
For the first 16 solid years of our new democracy the presidents we had come from South and were Christians, ardent ones for that matter. The security problem being experience now from Boko Haram has it root and grips of the country right from their time. The porous borders of Chad and Niger have always been there, yet they didn't build fence.
God bless Buhari for opening up opportunities that will enhance trade between Nigerians of south south and south east with our Cameroon brothers and sisters.

So you would basically wall off (fence off) the whole borders of borno, yobe and adamawa?

It's Joint project between Nigeria and Cameroon but the amount involved is very huge,a whooping $36m on 1.5km bridge. How deep is the depth of the sea? What is the cost of construction equipment that are going to be used? Are all materials going to be imported? What is the cost of manpower? What is cost of securing equipment and lives of workmen at the construction site? Are they going to pay compensation to the sea goddess?

Why is that so hard to believe? That's just N14bln at N400 exchange rate. I use that rate because contract was awarded a while back.

Eleme flyover in PH was done at N7bln by Celestine Omehia in 2007 or so, when dollar was N199. How much are each of Wike's flyovers in PH.

Meanwhile the Nigeria Cameroon bridge is being constructed in a relatively isolated part of the country, which will make it hard to mobilise equipment and deliver materials.

Leave that thing! The kind of road an Rccg will do is not what JB will do. Did you even see a picture of said Rccg Road to assess the quality?

It's like estates in lagos coming together to do interlocking road of 200meteres for N100mln and then you think if JB came to do road it should be at rate of N50mln per 100meters.

And you feel all Nigeriens are terrorists, abi?

Confirmation bias at its peak.

SMH.

A disproportionate percentage of the trouble makers that enter/re-enter Nigeria use the border with Niger.

If Cameroon was a terrorist hotspot I would not object to the border being closed or activities being more closely monitored.

If they can close the border with Benin Republic due to smuggling why can they not consider closing the border with Niger because of mass murder?
