All in all it boils down to the fact that in Nigeria women's sports does not pay financially

Even foreign based female athletes don't earn as much as their male counterparts do. All our girls playing in the wnba don't earn as mich as the worst Nigerian player in the nba

Meanwhile if a girl snags a rich boyfriend she can earn far more than a hard-working female athlete in one month

Japan has the facilities, the expertise and the training to beat Nigeria. At the end of the day it isn't always about size. After all in boxing Tyson knocked out taller and bigger opponents

If you watched the match , Japan beat us because they got more three pointers than we did. Strategy and tactics which in some way were probably taught from childhood.

If we want consistent good results we have to build up our expertise, talent numbers , training, facilities etc

This is the Olympic contingent that had the earliest preparation ever. And most of our teams had world class coaches. I put much of the blame on the players and just a little on the administrators. They showed some lack of commitment and were not clinical. You could see their opponents playing as if saying "how can Africans beat us"

We start early preparation no medal, late preparation, no medal.

So those girls at the Olympics are "very local women"? ..If you don't know man,it's those girls that are displaying Range Rovers wey be the real "very local women"..These girls at the Olympics are very hardworking and commited young women who are doing very well in their respective fields of sports(most were born or live abroad).They have put in a large amount of personal sacrifice,hardowork and finances to be able to be where they are now.They are continually let down by the relevant officials of this cesspit of a country they chose to represent(some of them had the chance to represent the countries of their birth or residence).

No. Team was assembled on time, played together on time, and we even had a series of friendlies on time too.

The problem is, at the end of the day, we don;t have enough home grown talents,(basketball is not popular in Nigeria at all) so we use foreign born Nigerians or overseas Nigerians who are not playing for the US (where most of them come from) because they were not good enough for the USA's first or second or even third team.(And the Nigerians who were good enough for the US team were either in the US team or blocked from playing for us)

Of course even being tenth best in the US is far better than any home based African team..which is why we could beat out most African teams but at international competition we were playing with a team made up of USA rejects/fifth best vs other countries' A teams. And it showed well well well....

The thing is, we need to get enough talents, enough faculties, enough expertise, etc etc...so that we can stand a chance of doing better next time. Otherwise, it would be the same old song next time, and the time after.

May I ask why we didn't present foot ball teams in this Olympics. At least Super Falcons suppose come but where are they?

What was officiating like given that Japan is the Home Team, i.e Japanese Olympics?

I've just been reading that US are unhappy with some officiating and this reminded me....
