Did they expect to perform well in Olympics with Buhari as president of Nigeria and with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in DSS detention?

Apparently, that man in Austra told them the gospel truth.

So when we also did not perform well in 2012, and many times before, was Buhari President of Nigeria, and Mazi Kanu in detention then?

You Nigerians should focus on why we don't do consistently well in sports instead of blaming Buhari today, GEJ yesterday, the millitary back in the day.

You are good, no doubt about that, but you are doing it for a cursed nation, a terrorist country. So, don't expect victory.
JesseJo:

So, says a cursed citizen and terrorists enabler.

You PDP and APC man, both of you should stop cursing each other...because both your parties scored zero in sports development.

We need to spend more on sports, more on generating talent, facilites and expertise, then we will win more and more and more.

The nations that are on top of the medal table...shebi they are perfect. China is on top...and millions of their citizens are in jail because they support the wrong religon, and also because they support a secessionist movement. Australia and US that mistreated their indigenous peoples and did lots of human rights abuses too are also on top. Our colonial masters UK and France that killed millions to take over our land mass...they too are on top. Shebi they should be cursed too?

And things need to get better with Nigeria, and the sooner we vote sensibly, the better.

We require talent + training + facilities + variety + organisation + time in order to do ourselves justice in any global sports competition. We currently rely on talent alone. Nationally we require maintenance and legacy mind frames that leads to enduring institutions, which should save us money long term.

❌Since politicians came to power,
it has been downhill for Nigerian
sports..

We used to be good in boxing, sprints,
weight lifting & sprint relays & always
come home with medals, no matter
the color.

❌But now, Nigeria habitually goes to
Olympics & come back with nothing.

✔️Most of our talents even take up
citizenship of other countries who
value them & win medals for them.

❌Here, sports officers are always trying
to dupe or shortchange out sports
members. ☹️

LOL.....
1.Under Army rule, we did not come home with medals in 1968, 1972 (we boycotted 1976), 1980, 1988.
2.We won boxing medals under millitary and civillain rule in 1960, 1964 (civillian) and 1992 (army)
3.Weightlifting won a medal last in 2000, and before then we were not that spectacular.
4.Sprints...I'll give you that...but we have won medals in sprints in 1984, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008..and that's that.Millitary and civillian.

We are not that good.

❌But now, Nigeria habitually goes to
Olympics & come back with nothing.

We came back with something in 2016 ...bronze.

And we came back with nothing in 1952, 56, 60, 68,72,80,88,2004,2012 .

✔️Most of our talents even take up
citizenship of other countries who
value them & win medals for them.

And who can afford to pay them better because

1.Such countries pay higher in tax revenue...(spain , portugal, usa)
2.Such countries earn more revenue per capita than we do.(bahrain, qatar, US, spain, portugal)

And then there is the fact that many of those Nigerians were born abroad.

Glory Alozie took up Spanish citizenship because Nigeria could not afford to pay her the $24000 monthly Spain was offering. Nigeria could only give her 2000 monthly. Same reason Obikwelu took up Portuguese citizenship.

Yes, that is true.

But it is also true that

1,We don't have enough talents
2.We don't have enough money
3.We don't have enough facilites
4.We don't have the expertise that the big countries have. Even when we won medals, we never won gold that much.

Exactly. After two weeks, everything is forgotten. This happens because no one takes clear charge, sets goals and expects to be held responsible for success or failure. Right now we all have just vague notions of who or what to hold accountable. Is it the sports minister? is there a sports minister? Is it the president? Is there a president? Are states ministers responsible? home athletes? Or athletes’ abroad? Who is committed? Who isn’t committed? What are schools doing? Do we have people attached to organisation responsible for checking doping? On and on. In these absences of Responsibility-taking, this lack of organisation, the public express commonsense ideas or superimposed political views and sentiments as explanations.

That means that back in 2012, the wrath of God was also upon us, since we did not win anything.

Also, in 2016, we came back with a bronze, when the same Lie Mohammed was a minister....

You guys should stop blaming God, men, and start doing organization, facilites, money etc for our sports.

Good job, Tobi. I am so proud of her. She's a treasure and I believe she can do better next time. I watched the run, she didn't start well, she picked up in the middle. I think she would be a beast without the hurdles. Her final pace without the hurdles was excellent. I think she should be our 100m and 200m face from now on. She's 24, Okagbare is 32.

All eyes are now on the high jump. I Hope Ese Brume brings a Gold medal tonight.
