United signed Edwin Van SAR at the age of 35 from Fulham and he was world class for 6 good years at United., Goalkeepers peak late and can keep till 40 years. Buffon is 43 and still keeping.

Nope..you can sign for any number of years depending on the agreement between club and player. Kepa signed a seven(7) years contract when he joined Chelsea.
Signing for a smaller amount of time helps reduce risk for both club and player.

He is a keeper not a player. When it comes to longevity in career between a player and a keeper. Always give it to a Keeper. Buffon's still in service till 40. I dare Messi or Ronaldo to repeat that unless they'll leave Europe
