The Nigerian Army says the intensity of fire by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, has forced more Boko Haram/Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists to surrender in the North East
Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Nwachukwu said the terrorists, who surrendered with their families, had hitherto hibernated around the fringes of Sambisa forest area of Borno before yielding to troops’ heavy artillery and air bombardments on Aug. 2.
He said the surrendered terrorists comprised 19 male fighters, 19 adult females and 49 children from Njimia village and environs.

According to him, the terrorists who also surrendered several assorted weapons and incendiaries, lamented that the condition in the forest have become untenable, hence their surrendering.

Nwachukwu said the firearms and incendiaries recovered from the terrorists included, eight AA47 rifles, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) two Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifles and one Dane gun.

He added that one Makarov pistol, 89 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, 89 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 66 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, five 9mm rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades, 27 AK47 rifle magazines and two FN rifle magazines were also recovered.
Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and five electric detonating chords.

It also included six packs of water gel explosives, six mobile phones, one camouflage bag, two hard drives and N55,000 among others.

“The terrorists and their families are currently undergoing comprehensive security profiling and preliminary investigations, while the children have been administered the oral polio vaccines,”he added.

Meanwhile, Nwachukwu said that
the Chief of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has commended the troops for the sustained offensive and clearance operations conducted in the theatre.

He, however, charged them to maintain the momentum.

The sociology, geography and religion in the north are fertile grounds that encourage the seed of terrorism to flourish.

The oligarchical blood in their elites is widening the gap between the rich and the poor.

A thousand BH fighters mat surrender, the three factors i mentioned earlier will recoup fresh fighters in torrents.

Sharing boundary with a failed country like Niger with expanse of ungoverned territory is a sure breeding factor. Also, religion affiliation is another key factor because most people see the terrorists as those propagating Islam and the culture that us conservative to progressive changes will definitely breed new fighters to fill the vacuum left by the fighters who surrendered.

This country is just a joke, but Gana was killed by the same military when he gladly surrendered. I pity those who still believe in one Nigeria.

It's a TRAP! They're being DECEPTIVE!! They're trying to save their useless/dying ass.

These people are supposed to be executed systematically not to be accommodated. They're useless, deceptive and worst of creatures. The prophet SAW has notified us of their coming towards the end of time. They're Khawarij, the dogs of Jahannam (Hellfire).
May Allah protect us from their filth ideology and actions

These terrorists have at one time or the other killed soldiers or innocent civilians but now when they are about to meet their end, they are taking the easy way out

Terrorist do not repent. It is a decoy

The only good terrorist I know is one that has been sent to "heaven" to get his reward

Who surrender?Honestly the whole thing is bullshit, you can take a kid out of ghetto but you can't take ghetto out of a kid,a notorious criminal will come and lie to you that they have surrendered and you will take them in and send them to rehabilitation centre, who does that?criminals can never change that is why it's has failed woefully in zamfara and katsina.dont think you are deterring these people from committing a crime you are only motivating the people of those area that they can go into terrorism or banditry and after a while perhaps when they have gathered millions from kidnapping business they can just decided to fool you that they have surrendered and you will accept them into the society and the guy man will start enjoying the money he made through ransome and killing.at least, any bandit or bokoharam that surrendered need to be jailed for some time before setting them free. stop motivating these criminals for goodness sake!

angry

The war against terrorism in Nigeria will never end because this is just a cycle.

Buhari announced that any Boko Haram member caught would be killed. Now you catch them, but prefer to give them feeding bottle because it's a business venture.

grin grin this is usually one of the most difficult times of the year to fight the insurgency due to the rain. But we thank God, our prayers and our soldiers are hitting them heavily. Death to all those who raise weapons against Nigeria.
