I wonder how this government thinks really ...a poor nation like Nigeria spending 12 billion dollars on a phantom project that won't break even for 100 years ....there are far more important was that would use that money that would have far more impact on the economy

$1billion $300 million each can reactivate warri ,port Harcourt and Calabar ports ...$100 to by boats to secure the sea routes

$4 billion invested in our transmission line would increase transmission capability from 5000mw to over 12000mw ... electricity supply would double ...I mean double because we have installed capacity of about 15,000mw

$5 billion grants to 10 top importers of goods we can easily produce here to start producing them in Nigeria ...or if we have struggling producers top 10 ...pick like 10 to 20 products

Like ceramics , glass , cloths , chocolates ,drugs and the likes ...this would create over 300,000 jobs directly and provide revenue of over 300 billion a year in taxes

This project would have far more reaching impact on our GDP than this phantom rail system that's nothing but a feel good project

Abuja kaduna rail would break even at the current profit rate in over 101 years

I'm waiting to see the figures for Lagos ibadan rail but my estimate suggest 160 years to break even that's if repairs are not made even

Good observation.
A nation With less than $40 billion external reserves to spend over $10 billion on rail project within a region is not wise when we have other critical income generating sectors like power, Ajaokuta steel, Modular refineries, commercial production of Cocoa, Cotton, G/but etc... The quantum of goods moving from calabar to phacourt to Lagos is not up to 0.0001% of goods moving from North to South and vice versa...

Very funny coming you...

How will you describe railways as phantom projects?
When goods get to ports, how do they move hinterland?
Do you prefer moving heavy trucks on the road, causing more accidents and damages on the road?

No where in the world are railways built for immediate profit..

These projects are lifelong projects.

The existing Narrow guage tracks were built in the early 1900s, and it's still serving us albeit poorly.

No nation has developed moving goods via trucks.

Your 101 years estimate is quite generous, I'd say they would never break even on any of those projects, why??
Whenever you're making such estimates, always factor in inflation and don't forget this country is inflation itself.

When the modern rail project is finished ie executed, I hope it won't be like this caption.

The thing is, Nigerians love good stuffs like rail but they criticise when it is not yet finished, but the moment the train comes into operation, they rush it, & some don't even buy ticket before they board the train. They want to kill this country. Nigerians are the problem.

You have said it quite nicely, the answer is privatization, let those same women enter taxi and don't pay then see what happens.

If the rail was passing through your village you won't be saying this.

What do we actually want for naija. If the govt did nothing we will complain, now they are doing something yes it may be inflated and sound overbloated but this is Africa, we need infrastructure like this else nothing at all will be done at all including all the suggested alternatives you have listed here.

Like I always say, you can never go wrong on infrastructure no matter how expensive it is. Persons, goods and services must always be moved from one point to another.

Do Benue state not have representatives in the national assembly? What are their senators and reps collecting huge allowances for?

Where is the money?

PDP conceptualized that project
but couldn't start it due to unavailability
of funding..

The mumu APC has decided to take
it on, though there isn't money. They
specialize in borrowing & begging for
money from any source, at any conditionality.

I have a suspicion that Buhari is using
some of these projects to secretly hide
money on behalf of the Muslim north in
case the country eventually breaks up.

It took six years to complete the ones you mentioned. This useless administration has less that two miserable years to leave.

Beside that, the Ajaokuta-Itakpe-Warri railway was constructed to bring more and more Almajaris and evil Fulani herdsmen from the North to the South to kill, to steal and to destroy. That is why herdsmen are now asking Delta government to give them 50,000 acres abi hectares of land.

The Lagos-Ibadan railway too was constructed to bring more Almajaris and evil Fulani herdsmen to the South that is why construction has started to extend the Ibadan end to Kano to facilitate the movement of evil Fulani herdsmen and bandits and Boko Haram to the South in order to kill, to steal and to destroy.

But, the good new is that we are ready for them. We will teach them a lesson their generations yet unborn will never forget

APC and fulanis are core socialist reason why capitalist igbos have to leave this country
If you are not mischievous, you will tell people that APC did double lane tracks instead of a single one PDP did. Moreover, PDP could not finish it, it was APC that finished it.

APC did 320km with 1.5 billion dollars
PDP did 190km with 850 million dollars.

This is not minding the fact that APC built many infrastructures across the tracks to support the trains.
APC started and finished unlike your party that couldn't finish.

You can only deceive ignorant people in your village with mischievous figures

You may probably be correct o.
But every administration has its priority.
Perhaps, if OBJ has focused on maybe power by now, it won't be on that your list.
And if GEJ focused on Ports, it won't also be on that list.
Remember, those years of PDP had the money to spend, but we're just looting the whole thing.
