360command:
create project work you have done for people or for yourself and post it online.

Create a Facebook fan page, Instagram fan page, a web page showing your works and some other contents within your field.

Join various groups (Facebook) within your niche, and be an active member.
Research on Facebook, check if they have it but if not, then come out with your Facebook group page by giving it a name like "web developer in Nigeria " or "web developer in Lagos " or "web developer in Michigan" . Now, when you are able to boost your page, the people who joined your group are either clients or web developer. This makes you have future leads....

Facebook ads can be crucial, so you might need to pay Facebook in other for them to boost your pages.

Omo, there are ways to make it, you just want someone to spoon feed you.

Ps: if you say you are good at what you do, go on YouTube and create videos, with time, you will get leads from different sources.
YouTube came up with "YouTube short", take advantage of their algorithm which can help push your videos to a greater audience.

Thanks a lot for this

Sincerely, I don't even look at the tax, I just get paid.

Do you work as an Independent Contractor or a full employee? I have just been offered a role as an Independent Contractor and wanted some more information about how that works. Especially regarding steady income and other necessary info

I work as full time and not independent contractor. They are remote jobs and every party just expects you do the job as stated without breaching individual company policy and privacy. So it's just left for you to plan time.

Omo!!! Make una share abeg, I’m a Frontend web developer. I’ve been applying for freelancing gigs on upwork but I’m yet to get any job after about two months. I guess it’s because I’ve not done any upwork job and they prolly don’t trust my ability.

Some of the jobs are as easy as styling a single button with CSS, something that won’t take me 30 minutes to do but I never got the job.

You guys should kindly share tips on how you got your first freelancing job on upwork, I’ll be reading the comments.

This would have been better as a thread on its own

Try jobs.crossover.com. Jobs start from $15/hr. But the screening is intense o. Midway through two applications. Na blood

Also had an interview last week for a small VOIP business in California. Expecting a reply today or tomorrow

For the crossover.com opening. Don't rush. Practice aptitude tests well.

Bro, checked the site but I noticed nothing on ui/ux designer. Don't know maybe you have other recommendations

Lots of tales.

But one thing I can say is. There are so many lazy white people and also people who don't do much research who will need your services.

Even very simple service o. You will be wondering that "ahan, don't they know they can do it themselves?".

But anyway, it's free cash for you.

Where and how do you get this gig

Do you include you have been building websites for ten years in your cover letter? Do you add a link to your portfolio in your cover letter? Do you check the time the job was posted and how many people have applied?

If you’ve not been doing any of the above, start doing it now.
