A former envoy to Malaysia and elder statesman, Amb. Yerima Abdullahi, who is also a close associate of the president, said granting the igbos a referendum was better than eroding the peace and progress of the country, adding that fighting a second phase of civil war is unthinkable.

He made this disclosure in an interview with our correspondent in Gombe, stressing that leaders should embrace alternative means of resolving the debacle.

According to him, “It is not surprising if wars are fought but when wars are fought, eventually someone will lose. However, you become more civilized based on the experiences of the war, so the need to come together and eventually sort out yourselves. Accept that you were defeated in the war, but you will not fold your arms by accepting the defeat.

but if there are people who still feels strongly that they want their own country by whatever name they call it. Whether they call it Biafra, the most sensible thing to do is to give them an opportunity to vote. They should hold a plebiscite, if they want for goodness sake let them go.”

“If igbos wants to get out of Nigeria, well for goodness sake carve it out but they know the implications of being out of Nigeria. The leaders that are leading them should know the implications. They should know that the Igbo man who is very prosperous in Gaboro in the Eastern part of Borno state, in Ilela, Kawoje in Kebbi state.

“There are Igbos all over the country and they are not among the poor ones. So for goodness sake give them the opportunity. Let them go atleast we will experience some peace, what we don’t like is dwindling or eroding the peaceful environment.

I don’t know how you will split a country on a platter of gold. However, it is better to allow them go than to say we fight another civil war,” he added.

So it is the Igbo that is responsible for this disquiet we have from Borno to Kebbi; the rumblings of kidnapping from Katsina to Niger to Oyo, etc? Chaii, heavenly Father grant this man and Nigeria a little sense before it's too late.

Is abomination we prefer morality, justice, respect for one another, zero crimes, following rules and regulations, peace and God. They prefer chaos, immorality, all sorts of crimes accepted, no respect for oneself and other, can follow rules and regulations and Godlessness.

Let them go our reputations and dignity can't never be trade for one Nigeria

DefHQ abi vulnerabilityHQ, the man never mentioned the Igbo, but you chose to be mischievous. It was your head that told you to lay your own emphasis. For you and others like you, the ambassador is clear: organize a referendum. Or you didn't hear him.

The biggest challenge is that we don't know what igbo want. Some miscreant are agitating for Biafra, if you said igbo want Biafra, many people will counter you that IPOB is not speaking for igbo. Some of their leaders said they want president in 2023, their youth are calling them many unprinted names. Some said they want restructuring.
It will be good for everybody if igbo could speak with one voice and come up with Biafra map which should only comprises areas agreed to be part of Biafra and they will have it.

In the absence of clear nation-building roadmap and given that vigorous "Yes" and "No" campaigns usually herald every referendum, if South Eastern businessmen, professionals, artisans and property owners residing outside SE with their nuclear and extended families storm home to vote in a UN supervised referendum, the result will be SHOCKING. #prophetic

Finally someone who has an atom of wisdom has spoken

Conduct referendum for all indigenous Igbo communities in SE, SS and NC on the case of Biafra

First of all , it is impossible for millions of people to speak with one voice, there will always be an opposition speaking against

Second the only way to hear the voice of every igbo, or the minorities included in the biafra map is a referendum, give everyone a voice through referendum , it's very simple there nothing challenging there

Nothing will be shocking there, igbos living in igboland are far bigger than those outside igboland, how about those living outside Nigeria, do you think they will vote against biafra? There is one thing you all don't understand , if biafrans are allowed to form their country through diplomatic process, no biafra having investments around Nigeria will lose his property rather they will be compensated and a percentage will be given to them from the wealth of Nigeria

You don't waste scarce resources on referendum if people didn't show strong desire for it. For example, people of South South have opted out from Biafra, their leaders, organised youth and women have stated this many times so they don't need referendum.
South East is divided, their leaders and youth are singing different songs so we expect Ohaneze to speak on their behalf to give the country direction if they want referendum or not.

By the way, process of secession is that simple bro. If divorce is difficult then imagine what secession would be. Disappointment and bitterness subsist in the mind and heart of original country. You can't determine or dictate what another sovereign country would react to protect its interests. For example, If not for Chancellor Merkel, other disappointed and embittered members of EU wanted to punish GB for Brexit through adverse economic, trade, investment, immigrant employment and tax policies.

Look, the absence of Roadmap for Biafra or Ala Igbo country is worrying. What are plans being PROACTIVELY put in place for various backslashes that will accompany secession.

1)the resources federal government is using to fight biafra agitators since 1999 till date its enough to give them a referendum, and they will spend more years to come if there is no referendum
2) south South has not opt out of any biafra, they so called leaders can not speak the mind of every South South indigene till an opportunity is giving to each of them to speak through referendum, so saying South South don't need a referendum is totally wrong, go an watch the video of the lunching of ESN they were South South minority groups among them

Ohanaeze ndigbo can never speak on behalf of every igbo person cause they have no power over any igbo person igbos are individualistic and they bow to no king

No matter what, it will not be as bad as biafra breaking away in a war , both Nigeria and biafra will still need each other even if they go their separate ways

Lemme explain with one simple formula.

Biafuro is only shouted by the less intelligent & hungry yeebos especially males.

One Nigeria is shouted by the intelligent and well mannered yeebos especially females.

No one wants to drink corpse water or fight over inheritance.
