4. *"ALL FINGERS ARE NOT EQUAL"*
Yes! Physical fingers in your hands are not equal but that does not make any of them valueless financially, and you realize that they are all valuable. You are not even a finger, so why look down on yourself.

If you are below forty and believe this, I feel so sorry for you because it means you are not yet alive.

Understand that all these philosophies are applicable to some certain situations of life.
They are more of idioms. When they say a fool at forty is a fool forever doesn't literally mean if you don't make it at forty, you will be useless. It means such person has wasted time or the time for self grooming and agility has passed.
When they say half bread is better than none, it doesn't mean you should settle for less. It means one should know when to be contented.

Nope the OP is completely wrong.. You cannot rule out what works in the real world with few motivational words in English. I can confidently say the OP analysed these philosophies from the plane/surface value of the statements without really thinking upon the meaning of the documents.
