You are a bastard. You northerns do not respect Southerners and their region. How has Islam bring about development in your region?, Instead it retrogresses you and you want to force others against their own will to retrogress with you?. You northerns are such arrogant bastard that do not deserve to live.

I was watching a documentary today on CNN about the Talibans capture of a major city in Afghanistan. The first thing they did was to get all girls from age 12 and above for the commanders and various members to get married to and it got me thinking. The Taliban and the various terror groups in the north all share the same ideology. No amount of weapons or super intelligence can defeat this guys. I mean the USA poured in over 20 billion dollars in Afghanistan. Sent in high end weapons, trained the Afghan troops yet they still lost the war. 20 years gone, thousands of Americans dead and the war was lost.

If a whole America couldn't defeat the Taliban what is the fate of the Nigerian army in winning the boko haram war. They are even recruited into the same army and people in the south are just sitting down. Whether people like it or not. Those guys will take over the north and when they do what happens to the south. I mean people make a lot of noise on social media but we all know southern tribes aren't used to wars or warrior like in nature compared to the north that has known and fought all kinds of wars. Even if the country divides as people want it to. Will independent southern nations have the resources to fight the terror groups in the north. With Afghanistan under taliban control it will become a training and funding ground for all forms of terror group.

I have always predicted southern Nigeria to be like congo or Liberia in the future but with what's going on in the north it might be much worst than Afghanistan and Yemen put together.

Correction. The US poured close to $850 billion into Afghanistan in a 20 year period. More than s fifth of that money went into training a useless army that capitulated like chickens before a battle hardened Taliban force.

Igbo land is the last region that can ever fall to terrorists especially the ones that has anything to do with Islam.

Igbo land is 99% christians, unlike other regions with significant amount of Muslims

This is more reason why we need to be vigilant and more active Christians!
Turkey was once a 100% Christian country. What is the situation there today?
When Muslims fight they mean business. Can you say the same for Christians of today?
Unfortunately Christians have become more docile and swayed by the wave of liberalism ravaging the world today and that is the beginning of our problem.

Oga your story is shortlived. First of Russia got her ass whooped in Afghanistan.

Second of all, USA, thoroughly dealt with Taliban, removed them from government, installed new govt etc. The next phase now is to teach Afghans to fight their own war. Which is what US would do eventually.

Thirdly, America though not invincible is a master tactician. Withdrawal from Afghanistan and subsequently allowing terrorists taking over the country would be strategic.

First, it will allow the oppressed China's Ughur region, to have direct access to a terror nation. And you know the problems in the Urghur region in China.

Secondly, Taliban can easily seize Tajikistan and Uzbekistan which are at the backyard of Russia. Bringing terrorism into China-Russia mix would be a great tool for global dominance. Sacrificing Afghanistan to achieve that aim wouldn't be a difficult decision.

Knowing that America has over 50 years experience dealing with terrorists, they have moved into the realm of using terrorists to achieve their aims. Rather than completely wiping them out. Don't forget that at the height of Iran-US crisis, there were insinuations that America wanted to activate ISIS who is arch enemy of Iran.

If the global GDP is $80tr and your country alone controls $22tr out of it, you can do a lot.

It will be very difficult for terrorists to overun the south if we remove govt interference. Because for one, they are easily identifiable compared to southern population. Secondly, the south is much smaller and less mountainous. Thirdly, we have more resources to fight a prolonged warfare than them, amongst others.
Russia was never in Afghanistan and never got its ass whooped. For your information, the Soviet Union who was in Afghanistan was there at the behest of the legitimate government to fight against the mujahideen who were attempting to bring down the government with the support of the American government (Operation Cyclone). That same mujahideen metamorphosed into the Taliban you have today.

The Soviets withdrew in 1989 when the government of Gorbachev was attempting to build peaceful relations with the West through "perestroika".

They weren't defeated as the government they came into support still stood on its own for 3 years after the Soviets withdrew. Compared that to the Americans who haven't even left the Airport when the entire nation crumbled in a matter of weeks.

Study your history and don't attempt to propagate falsehoods to please your masters.

The Taliban can't do nada to either Tajikistan or Uzbekistan who are both under the protection of Russia. Neither can they attempt to infiltrate China as claimed.

p.s. The combined losses suffered by the Americans and its lapdog allies in terms of money and equipment is several times in magnitude of what the Soviets lost in Afghanistan.

Nothing like mighty USA, even Russia lost the war in Afghanistan too..the mountainous terrain makes it difficult to stage war against the Taliban there. They are good in mountain warfare.

Taliban and boko haram are two different set n fighting on different terrain too.

Only a southern president with the political will can defeat n crush them.any northerner will not.
the reason why the Soviet Union lost was because the USA,China and other ountired where supporting the talibans back in the Cold War era when the Soviet wanted to push communism to the Middle East and the west wasn’t having any of it,because they didn’t want communism to spread
Without their support the Soviet would have most likely taken over Afghanistan

Truth is, there are rules of engagement in war. You don't bring a nuke to a gun fight. The Taliban are like BH, guns, gun-trucks & ground to air missiles. If the US were to deploy full tech in war, it'd be a massacre. Also remember, these terrorists hides within civilian population.

Its difficult to fight a war where your enemy knows you
But you dont know them
Those guys mixed with the local population
And America doesn't want to commit genocide as such

The Roman empire of old would have sacked the entire village, burnt it to the ground and forcefully colonise whoever survived
That was their way
And that was why they lasted over 500 years

Half hearted measure wouldn't have cut it

The south is not poor by default.
It is claimed that the north is more populated. Infact they say north is averagely 65% of the population of Nigeria.
Now if you remove 65% of the northern population our gdp currently at 2k+ will shoot up to 5-6k (at per with south Africa).
With prudent management of the economy, avoiding waste associated with the north, in 5 years 10k gdp per capita is expected.
South is not poor.

I think the US has accomplished one of the major reason for going to Afghanistan, that is killing of September 11 bomb blast key suspect Osama bin Laden.

US were never there to fight any war to set the record straight, they assist in training their military, but you know how terrorist group operates, they kill innocent people whenever they strike and goes into hiding.

I wonder how una take dey think, one Nigerianist dey shock..

Independence of the south would achieve little if the mindset and orientation of southerners remain the same.
We keep accusing northerners, Fulanis, Boki haram, bandits of dragging us back but we have failed to take responsibility for our actions and connivance in the atrocities committed against us.
Fulanis have access to every nooks and crannies, could destroy farmlands without impunity…some get arrested then get released. Who set them free? Are there no police men from the south working at such stations and establishments??

Fulanis attack local people and when the locals reiterate, they get arrested and some made to ‘disappear’…are there no military men of southern extraction at such units? Why do members of the armed forces from the south overlook these atrocities?

Why do politicians from the South keep mute and take no serious actions against all the perceived injustices?

Amotekun oga patapata is rtd Major General Kunle Togun. I read an interview if this man decrying the invasion of south west by foreign herdsmen and bandits. This man was a former deputy director of SS. I believe him when he said the obvious thing we’ve all known about…but isn’t this man same person implicated in the murder of Dele Giwa under IBB? Isn’t he the same person bragging about knowing more than 99 ways to end people’s lives??

What are our politicians and members of the armed forces doing about the evil which boko haram renamed bandits and their conniving northern politicians are doing against the south?

Ondo and Oyo state governors will be first to pull out of Nigeria.

Sanwo-Olu (even at age 75) will have to fly to the UK to seek Tinubu's consent and advice before making any human and logical decision that affects over 25 million Lagosians.

Osun state Governor will be indecisive as a significant percent of the population will give their full allegiance to a jihadist government.

Ekiti state governor will of course be as clueless as Ogun state governor although Fayose and Obasanjo will take a stand and get massive supports from the people.

Kogi and Kwara state's governors will fall out of the Southern agenda completely. Fulani jihadist will take over and declare Sharia although not without massive resistance from the people. As expected, Ebiras and Igalas in Kogi will be first to fall out. But the resistance they'll face from Yoruba speaking regions in Kogi and Kwara will be umatched, an opportunity to completely abandon the forceful and senseless marriage between unrelated ethnic groups.

Whether we'll win or not isn't the question.

The question should be, have we tried to win this war?

Since the days of GEJ, the northerners have been firmly behind Boko Haram. Some northerners are only against them now because they killed Muslims. Trust me, if Boko Haram and bandits targets were southerners and Christians alone, most northerns would still be firmly behind them.

The northerns have done their best to frustrate the pseudo efforts of the government, especially this present administration.

The thing seems like a joke to me, how can you send aides to pay for ransom to bandits and tell me you don't know where they are?
You take pictures with them, have a round table discussion with them but yet, you don't know their locations?

Remember what OBJ did in Niger Delta? How he cleared those militants after having a group discussion with them? Trust me, we can pull something as easy as that off, especially with the fact that majority of these Boko Haram and Bandits have very low IQ.

There is a saying in yoruba that, if you don't play, you can't win.

As for the future of the South, we have oil, we are intelligent amongst other things.
The southern states are the best in Nigeria.
It's the safest place to be in Nigeria.
If you remove the northern affiliation and for the fact that we don't get to share revenues with the north who are much than us in terms of number of geopolitical zone, state and population, we will do very fine. We'll also easily attract foreign investors.

In the event this scenario does happen, people should vote actual intelligent people so that history does not happen again. GEJ was incompetent to let Boko Haram capture over a dozen local government areas in the NE.

My fear is that the South may not be immune from the Nigerian factor in the end. We can bubble up the issue of Boko Haram and say it's the problem of the North. But as long as Northern leaders remain incompetent and extreme poverty/lack of education persists, the problem will fester, get out of control and eventually spread to other regions. Nigeria has already exported Boko Haram to neighboring countries like Cameroon and Chad.
