A tiny bit..... The actress Thuso Mbedu (I think) for Annette has a poor accent trying to speak Yoruba — Papa Légbá — just sounded weird AF in my ears.
The actor who voiced Ogun did a better job and sounded like a diasporan Nigerian.
Na Ogun I remember wella wey speak Yoruba incantations while blessing her. na him own I enjoy.

I think what they tried to do there was like giving us a start to the back story of how the silos came about.

Castlevania: Nocturne S2........8/10

This season was really good and action packed, compared to season one, it's a huge improvement.
This one had character, style and fully embraced the roots of the Castlevania universe.

Really top tier. The animation was really top notch as well as the score. The storytelling was a huge upgrade and better tied things up with the story building that season one was tasked with. Had good character development for the major characters as well.
Even tho some characters like Richter Belmont were overpowered, it felt good watching it in all its glory. 😎

Also very fast paced as things develop in quick succession. Great thing they didn't waste time trying to ease one into the show without proper groundwork.

One feature I really loved is the dedicated full infusion into retelling the African culture with my favourite being the story of the Yoruba deity Ogun. Top notch execution. I really enjoyed it. Gives the show some level of authenticity unlike the earlier season where it seems unearned and an afterthought. This story felt more fleshed out and kudos to the team for doing it some good measure of justice.

They really checked the most important boxes of the universe for me:
✓Superb action
✓Great score and sound effects
✓Great storytelling back on the menu
✓Rich African cultural heritage infusion
✓Great fantasy world
✓Great character development.

It delivered sufficiently.

Yes you can watch NOCTURNE independently. But you'll miss little nuance, references and history that goes centuries back.

Besides the original CASTLEVANIA is miles ahead of this one, especially the first 2 seasons. It's PEAK fiction and I like the animation better than this one.
It's storytelling is unmatched and easily one of the all-time best animated shows in my books.

I am half-curious and half-disappointed

It was a good finale but I have some major issues...

1. The reveal about the SILO being as a result of nuclear/radiological warfare is very predictable. Everyone predicted it from episode 1.

Honestly I would have prepared if it resulted from Aliens or even an AI trapping humans...

Using the most predictable mystery possible is not really something I look forward to...


2. Making seasons boring and dragged out just to have a great finale that ends on a cliff hanger is a tired technique that Hollywood needs to drop....

Other than that, a great episode...

Just 2 episodes into The Agency and I can already feel and tell it's an authentic show that truly knows it onions about Espionage thrillers.
Top tier shït. Basically what the business is about.
Interrogation, questioning, listening, surveillance, subterfuge, dialogue heavy, intelligence, reconnaissance etc.. A joy to behold. Hope this holds up till the end.

Not the clusterfvck that shallow British Spy drama Black Doves fed me. 😤😤
