To make matters worse BA cancelled its yesterday flight from lagos , meaning all those passengers Will now be subjected to the new process. Very stressful and upsetting
So tired of covid and its disruptions

You can say THAT again.
Difficult as it sounds, its time to accept that Covid is now something that is here to stay, intensity differing, and has to be lived with, the constant bans, border closures and lockdowns are ultimately unsustainable.

Can't believe they canceled that flight shocked You won't believe how much we paid for that flight and I bet other people possibly paid even more. I suspected this ban thing coming, hence my last post which you kindly provided some advice on. My person couldn't meet up anyway but we got a BA eVoucher

So sorry about your loss @justwise and I pray your travel is sorted quickly

Thank you.

Was the flight cancelled and rescheduled or
outright cancellation?

Yes I'm currently in Nigeria, buried my mum yesterday so could not act quickly to change my ticket, wouldn't have got the test done today and get morning ticket for tomorrow,

The whole thing is a big headache to me now ,

Hopefully by Wednesday there will much clarity about this,

I am so sorry. The sad thing is that the Nigerian government is not helping. I saw Lai Mohammed comment on the issue. He was just adding petrol to the fire. He was saying "94% of Nigerians are not vaccinated" why will a country say such in this kind of situation?

Outright cancellation. I couldn't cancel by myself via the booking portal, so I called customer service and they said my only option was a full refund via the voucher. I went for it as it was better than nothing.

This was way before the flight was then cancelled by the airline as I am hearing now.

It so annoying when they cancel a flight and give voucher.....

There is no harm in telling the person the truth, if the person refuses to understand, that’s on them. The problem is lying and the encouragement of housing them, that’s wrong. LYING is a NO NO
LagosismyHome:

A friend and her son were relocating from naija , her plan was to stay with her brother only for him to say he relocating to USA. She came and found her own accommodation

It then turns out the brother was never relocating anywhere and just lied....but then do you blame him

When I asked what was her plan, she had planned for her and her son to live with her brother for one year, but he lives in a one bed and has lived alone for yearssss. He didn't have the courage to say no so he lived, but can't blame him. One year plan in his one bed, that isn't fair to him too but most times people think only of themselves. What they can save not how inconvenient it is to the host

For a BA cancelled flight from Nigeria, they offered me a voucher that was the cost of the ticket but I rejeted it and then they offered me a cash refund which was almost the cost of the ticket. The flight was cancelled but then operated the next day. They put passengers in Hilton and flew us to the UK the next day but I still asked for compensation and got it. If they offer you a voucher for a cancelled flight and you do not want it, ask for cash instead although voucher value may be more than what you paid.

Dubai just opened up to Nigeria again.

This covid palava is relly testing patience. the last thing one needs is to get stuck in a place unprepared

These days (pandemic era) you’ll either take that voucher or forfeit the entire fee. They ”BA” are not the reason why flights are cancelled, it’s the UK government. It’s always advisable to read the T&C before booking flights. People that booked through third parties would be crying now unless they have travel insurance

I can’t remember who it was that suggested Lemonade finance on here. Whoever it is, just wanted to say a massive thank you to you. Downloaded the app this morning, funded my wallet and initiated a transfer. I kid you not, the money was in my GTBank account in less than one minute. I’m very impressed. The rate is also very reasonable. Merci.

But a legislation exists that you cannot be forced to collect a voucher. Reject the voucher and a bank alert would ring, within a few weeks.

UK (EU) Reg No 261/2004.

Hi my people.
My family and I are enroute Swansea come Jan.
Finally!!

However, there's one thing I have on my mind that has been given me concern.
During covid vaccination I dropped my father's name as my last name however, my passport, health certificate and everything carries my maiden name.
I did the vaccination before any of the others avd it just happened that I dropped my new name subsciously lol.
But thinking about it now, it's scary.
Is there any implications to this? Or is it possible to change the name I have on the covid card??

Biko help a sister.

Please advise me.
Should I leave things as they are, or I should try and see if I can change the name on the card, or can my marriage cert and newspaper change of name stand in?
