Sorry For late reply.

I’m not welling to engage in such transition considering the risk involved.

It is fine, I’ve gotten from a BDC close to me when I didn’t get a response ontime as I needed to replace a used fractions so as not to go below what I stated in an application.

Just out of curiosity isn't that covered by "code 2139" on that list?

No. Cybersecurity was once on the list of Job type, then under the job titles they put all cybersecurity specialist areas

Cybersecurity is under SOC code 2139. To confirm, check the link for the list of shortage occupation and you will see that Cybersecurity specialist was specifically mentioned under 2139.

I want to add Engineering to the list of lucrative courses people can focus on asides IT and medics. It is a really lucrative industry, with loads of opportunities, although the salary return may not be as high as some IT roles. Lets also encourage our kids, nieces, nephew etc to study Engineering related courses, I am forever grateful to the person that pushed me to Quantity surveying.

There are lots of Engineeringcompanies offering apprenticeship roles with starting salary of 22k with benefit (for 2/3days at work) and still pay their Tuition. Basically, they are not saddled with student loans and still have good savings once done. I have seen 2 black kids in my coy blow up this opportunity on youthful exuberance.

Please what sort of rates can I get from Lemonade?
Don’t want to spend time to download lemonade and it turns out to be giving me shitty rates like Azimo (those days) or Ace ir SmallWorld or etc..
If the rates are not competitive, I kukuma stick with Omopapa and Mamatukwas

Please thats a false info…I really wanted to get into IT.

i just got an apprenticeship as a data analyst nd i dont have ILR.

Things to note:
1. Yu need to have been resident in the uk for min 3 years.
2. No age restrictions
3. The apprenticeship market can be quite competitive so be ready for drills nd for most companies an assessment centre.
4. You must not possess a qualification at the same level or higher than the apprenticeship u want to do in a related field. For example you can’t do an apprenticeship in engineering (lv3/4)when you have a bsc in engineering (lv 6)

5. There are majorly 4 apprenticeship levels
Lv 3- equivalent to a levels
Levl 4- equivalent to foundation year at uni
Level 5/6- equivalent to degree
Level 7- equivalent to masters degree

It’s not false.
Apprenticeships do NOT give visas of their own.
I’m sure you felt it was false because of the ILR part. But it’s not false.

If you had mentioned the exact visa type you currently hold (possibly spousal), then it would have been clear to all the reason why you got into the apprenticeship program.

Thank you for the in-depth info, though.

The link provided more info, but it DID NOT corroborate Irenewaka’s post.
If anything, the link proved that the previous info provided by Chinlov about ILR was valid.

You not only need to have been resident in the UK for 3 years, you also need to have a residency status (not a tier-4). How else can a Nigerian meet that criteria if they are not on ILR? Or maybe spousal visa?

Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by dupyshoo: 7:06pm On Nov 24, 2021
Let me ask you these 2 questions:
1. Based on the eligibility criteria, as a dependant of a skilled worker visa holder, can
one apply for apprenticeship?
2. If yes, does that not mean you don't need ILR to apply?

You mentioned spousal visa, what about those on FLR FP under 10 year rule. It seems to me that all dependants that have stayed in the UK for over 3 years will qualify.

Hi Kovic lets clarify so no one would be confused

1. No employer has ever mentioned anything about ILR In order to qualify for an apprenticeship. ILR is completely different from visa.

2. Does an apprenticeship programme provide visa? Definitely no, that is why an individual is required to have a legal permit to be residing in the country.

3. Asides the law from the govt, in the dynamics of things it is even impossible for a student (tier 4 holder) to enroll in an apprenticeship program because during an apprenticeship you would be required to attend college or uni.

4. I believe any individual who has been resident in the uk for 3 years with any visa except a tier 4 visa qualifies for an apprenticeship…. This was the answer to the question I provided. Its also generic and not focussed on a Nigerian and how they can achieve this or not.
