We recently got a request from a client to Design, Fabricate and Load test a Cargo Carrying unit (or container in local parlance) to satisfy the following requirements:

1. To be able to carry 8 oil drums(barrels) in its cargo hold for transfer from dock to vessel and vice versa (The primary requirement)
2. To be able to carry equipment / facilities of specified dimensions not exceeding 7MT (metric tons)
3. To be able to be lifted both by crane and forklift of rated capacities
4. To have a front openable cargo doors for ease of loading/unloading of cargo.

Container is to be designed to DNV 2.7-1 and ISO 10855 specifications (two separate documents were later prepared to satisfy these two requirements

Structural Design:

The conceptual design was analysed using Structural analysis Software (STAADPro)

Two scenarios were considered as per specification requirements:
1. When container is lifted with maximum load with all manner of loading conditions and scenarios applied during a worst case offshore operation
2. When Container is lifted with forklift with similar loading scenarios as in (1)

This is done to properly size the steel sections and plates to assure a proper balance of weight and strength

After analysis, the detail design was prepared and MTO Generated for material purchase

It is an honour ma'am.

It was initially proposed to be designed and certified in accordance to DNV 2.7-1(as a matter of fact, it was due to initial client requirements )

It was later revised to be designed and load-tested in accordance to BS EN ISO 10855

We also design and fabricate transportation/ lifting skids, Spreader bars/Frames, Work platforms , Waste skips etc in accordance to world class industry standards with respect to design and Fabrication/ construction

We can perform design checks for the aforementioned including pressure vessels and piping

We also perform scaffolding design and checks for onshore and offshore operations
