smileyLet’s talk about the hushpuppi case.
It’s obvious the acclaimed international fraudster was arrested after concrete evidence had been built up.

Secondly, you would recall that for almost a year, Ramon Abbas was in a holding facility obviously for his refusal to play ball. The FBI acknowledges that within this time further investigations were being carried out.

In my opinion, Hushpuppi began to play the obedient puppy when he saw the FBI had a solid case against him from chats with Supercop Abba Kyari and his associates. These chats would be in his iPhones: Apple prides itself as a giant in the production of devices with the highest security. In fact, at the beginning of this case, the Company came out to say it wouldn’t unlock any of its users’ device for Law Enforcement.

How then did the FBI unlock a locked iPhone?

FBI can never unlock a suspect iPhone without his/her consent not even the apple company even after the suspect demise, huspuppy is cooperating with FBI as to reduce his jail time.so he has no choice than to mention name's. FBI re not EFCC

Let’s look one the flip side:

If he doesn’t open the phone then FBI has no case against him. Why then would he open?

FBI can unlock a locked iPhone, they are just using apple company to catch cruise.
What about the time FBI begged appleto unlock a terrorist iPhone 6(the latest version then), apple said no. FBI then came back weeks later to say they have already unlocked it by themselves proving that they don't really need apple permission before unlocking a phone.
Just Know that you are not safe on the internet or anywhere in the world despite what your VPN tells you. If someone is resourceful and vindictive enough, they can track you and open your yansh for the world to see. Peace out

You guys don't know a thing. FBI can unlock any phone without apple's help. They did it with the terrorist couple's phone that shot people at a gathering. Apple refused to cooperate. FBI unlocked it after some days and said they didn't need apple's help in that regard.

There is this Isreali company/software called Pegasus. That's how law enforcement gain access into locked iPhones.

Most previous comments on this question show that some Nairalanders are not conversant with how a world-class security organisation like the FBI operate.

Apart from security operation, FBI is a knwledge based/hunting agency. Wielding guns and cells are least of the tools they use.

FBI has a tradition of recruiting ex gurus from top tech companies like Microsoft, Google, FB, Apple, Cisco and other software gaints.

The ex workers of those tech gaints are savvy enought to provide technical details and updates about any hard code, encryption or software. And they use these guys to hack into any database, software or network.

So it's shouldn't be a surprise that they busrt any high profile cyber criminal. Remember the recent Russian hackers that hacked the Easter gas pipeline of the US and collected Ransome in crypto-currency. The FBI retaliated by hacking into their wallet(s) and retrieve the money back after some days.

US as a country is a knowledge based system/economy. Not like ours that quota system, religion, party affiliation and ethnicity are the yardsticks that replaced academic/mental/technical soundness.

The day FBI catches you they won’t need Apple’s permission to unlock your device and nail you.
