HERE ARE THE TOP 6 CAUSES OF KIDNEY DISEASE;

1. Delaying going to a toilet. Keeping your urine in your bladder for too long is a bad idea. A full bladder can cause bladder damage. The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria quickly. Once the urine refluxes back to the ureter and kidneys, the toxic substances can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infections, and then nephritis, and even uremia. When nature calls – do it as soon as possible.

2. Eating too much salt. You should eat no more than 5.8 grams of salt daily.

3. Eating too much meat. Too much protein in your diet is harmful for your kidneys. Protein digestion produces ammonia – a toxin that is very destructive to your kidneys. More meat equals more kidney damage.

4. Drinking too much caffeine. Caffeine is a component of many sodas and soft drinks. It raises your blood pressure and your kidneys start suffering. So you should cut down the amount of coke you drink daily.

5. Not drinking water. Our kidneys should be hydrated properly to perform their functions well. If we don’t drink enough, the toxins can start accumulating in the blood, as there isn’t enough fluid to drain them through the kidneys. Drink more than 10 glasses of water daily. There is an easy way to check if you are drinking enough water: look at the colour of your urine; the lighter the colour, the better.

6. Late treatment. Treat all your health problems properly and have your health checked regularly.

Let's help ourselves..

Thank you.

Doctors in this forum needs to enlighten us on kidney related disease, because the way people are dying from kidney disease is alarming.

Not a doctor but I suspect the proliferation of non-clinical therapies aka herbal medications is the smoking gun here.
Please avoid those things like a plague.
To me they amount to substance abuse and have dire consequences.

Lifestyle is part of the problem.

One should watch what he or she eats or drinks.

This is from old research done in the 1950s majority of which has been debunked due to latest research.

High protein intake doesn't affect kidneys.

Holding urine too long causes bladder issues, not kidney issues.

Not drinking water hardly affects the kidneys. The kidney regulates fluid and electrolyte balance in the body and it would take prolonged absence of water (3 to 5 days) for the kidneys to be adversely affected.

Caffeine doesn't affect the kidneys. The kidney in itself is a able to regulate BP through a certain feedback mechanism. Caffeine is safe to consume.

High salt intake will cause the kidneys to become extra active and excrete the excess and store sodium if insufficient. It also will send a feedback message to the brain and make you start to consume more fluids in order to dilute the excess sodium in the blood.

The number 1 cause of kidney disease aka ESRD End Stage renal disease is type 2 diabetes which is uncontrolled for an average of 10 years.

The number 2 cause of kidney disease is elevated blood pressure which has been uncontrolled for an average of 15 years.

The number 3 cause of kidney disease is auto immune diseases such as lupus, Good pasture's Syndrome etc.

All these actors especially the male always dying of kidney and liver failure is all attributed to their lifestyle. They drink and smoke without a care in the world. Let’s be mindful of our habits, may it not lead us to our deaths

U blame them for what exactly? It seems Seun's Nairaland is where people talk senselessly or lunatically as they like

Nigerian doctors are most proficient with wrong diagnosis and administering misplaced prescription.
Overtime, the result is mostly fatal.
One can blame the Healthcare system too.
Most of these middle aged men dying; good percent of the time, is ill managed heart conditions, organ dysfunction or stress fallout.
And this is where the doctors come in- they would prescribe medications which would worsen the heart condition, rather than make it better.
One would be kept on these medications for a long time ignorantly until the inevitable happens.

80% of the time. This sh.t is what happens in Nigerian clinics when a middle aged patient visits.

You may be upset, perhaps you're a doctor.
I'm lucky to have escaped one of una colleagues traps.
