Former Manchester City star, Trevor Sinclair has warned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not to see Cristiano Ronaldo as a youngster who will play every game of the season.

Sinclair pointed out that the Portugal international will get tired at some point in the Premier League, urging the manager to arrange his team so as to allow Edinson Cavani have some minutes. .

Ronaldo’s arrival from Juventus was announced by Juventus last week, before the two sides concluded a £12.86million signing on deadline day.

The five-time Champions League and Ballon d’Or winner has rejoined United on a two-year deal worth £480,000 per week.

The Portugal captain has been handed the iconic No.7 shirt at Manchester United and Sinclair believes Solskjaer should still have to rely heavily on Cavani despite Ronaldo’s arrival.

“Ronaldo will get the start, but when his legs start tiring, because the intensity is unbelievable in the Premier League, when his legs start tiring, Edinson Cavani will get a chance and they will dovetail throughout the season,” Sinclair said.

“Manchester United play 60 games.

“He won’t be able to play every game and be top drawer for every game, so that will be down to Ole to plan every game.

“When he [Cavani]gets his opportunity and he starts knocking them in the back of the net, then Ole’s got a problem.

“Whoever’s doing the business has to play, it doesn’t matter about your name, and that goes for Ronaldo as well.”

Ronaldo is billed to return to Old Trafford earlier than expected following his one match ban he got during Portugal’s World Cup qualifying game against the Republic of Ireland.
