Interestingly, both men and women are able to understand each other perfectly in Ubang, as both boys and girls grow up around their parents and get to learn both languages, but by the age of 10 boys are expected to speak in the male tongue.

“There is a stage the male will reach and he discovers he is not using his rightful language,” Chief Oliver Ibang said. “Nobody will tell him he should change to the male language. When he starts speaking the men’s language, you know the maturity is coming into him.”
More like peer pressure has finally forced him into beginning speak the preferred language. undecided

There is no mention in the write up about the state in Nigeria were this community resides. Is it deliberate or daftness ? undecided

I was wondering as well... what kind of lackadaisical report is this

Very watery article, how can you write an interesting article without mention of the geographic location of the tribe?

If you present this as a seminar in my classroom, you get an E.

I won't be surprised if one told me that this community is located in Cross river.
Cross-riverians have a myriad of languages that will leave you doubting if they all have a common ancestry.
There are some neighboring communities in Cross river that speak entirely different languages.
These people practice entirely different cultures but still live together in peaceful coexistence.

How can a few different words make them different languages? These don't even qualify as different dialects.

And why are those on the front page already calling out women?

Rubbish

Just some few words that men and women in the community don't share in common doesn't mean they speak different languages

Alaye u are wrong on this one, I have been to that community during my Youth service days for CDS sensitization, it’s in Cross River state, they speak entirely different from each other not just few words, there are many weird communities like that not just that one, they was one I went to, the two sides of the community speaks different languages, a linear community where the right part of the road speaks another language from the left part, Cross River state is very distinctive as almost all the local governments and villages have their own language.. u can try there for holiday once and experience what am talking abt
