When passed into law and assented to by Governor Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom will join the list of states in Nigeria that have enacted laws to ban open grazing.

The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has passed for second reading a bill seeking to ban open grazing of livestock in the state.

The bill, sponsored by Udo Kieran, member representing Oruk Anam State Constituency, was considered by the House and passed for second reading on Thursday during plenary.

Leading the debate on the bill, Mr Kieran said the bill seeks to “prevent the destruction of farms, crops, ponds, settlements and properties caused by open rearing and grazing of livestock and protect the environment from degradation and pollution”.

The bill, which appeared to enjoy unanimous support from lawmakers, was referred to the joint Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Lands, Housing and Urban Renewal.

The committee is expected to report back to the House within two weeks.

When passed into law and assented to by Governor Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom will join the list of states in Nigeria that have enacted law to ban open grazing.

Rivers, Bayelsa, Oyo, Ekiti and Abia states have enacted similar laws.

Lagos State anti-open grazing bill which has just been passed into law is awaiting the assent of the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Similar bills are at various levels in Enugu and Delta States.

Southern states in Nigeria had reached a resolution on July 5, 2021, in Lagos to enact a law prohibiting open grazing.

The governors, at the meeting, urged member states to enact legislation against open grazing of cattle in their states on or before September 1.

Only five states were able to have the anti-open grazing law in place before the deadline.

Correct. Hope Uzodinma, i hope you are catching the direction of the breeze. Don't sell the 'land of hope' to hopeless politics. Stop licking the ass of a stinking herdman and let Wike guide you through the rite of passage from Fulani toyboy to a real Igbo man.

Even senior Fulani asslicker is repenting on his death-bed in London and instructing his fu*k boy, Sanwoolu, to follow Wike's lead.

One united southern block will dwarf the entire north. I am not against Hausa people but they are so docile even though fulanis are wiping them out. Abi na because of Allah that made them not know that Fulani people have reduced them to rags.

This is wickedness from the Southern states. These bills are directed against the Fulani's who are known pasturist. I think it is high time the North do away with South by going our separate ways.
The South should know that all lands belongs to God

Very impressive. Ranching is best. Open grazing is archaic & backward

Southern Nigeria consist of enlightened men, when an individual or government takes the right decision, they are applauded by the citizens. When they do otherwise they are criticized.
But reverse is the case in northern Nigeria.

Ibkhaleel001:
AREWA VISION
Arewa shall not be a tribal nation or a theocratic dogmatists nation like Biafra or Odua. Arewa is a modern nation of nations were Hausa, Fulani, Angas, Yoruba, Igbo, Jarawa, Kanuri, Nupe, white men, yellow men and black men coexist.
Arewa is not a crusader nation like Biafra where those who do not practice the state religion will be killed and chased out.
Arewa Republic is not ethnocentric like Odua where if a man does not bear Yoruba name is seen as a half human to be subjected to descrimination and set to be killed by elite sponsored tribal terrorists like Odua or cursed to die in the Lagoon by a tribal chief
That is why we have half-Yoruba man as the Emire of Kano, the biggestst Kingdom in Hausaland. That is why Arewa was led in war during the Civil War by an Angas Christian, Yakubu Gawon. That is why the xenophobic tribalsts of the west and the end time black crusaders of the east hate us and are doing their best to divide us and conquer.
Come what may, we shall remain the richest in terms of resources and the largest in terms of population in Africa, Arewa is the heart of Africa. This is why the malevolent envious ones want to see it in chaos. We shall surmout the current troubles and emerge strong. We are the Phoenix that always emerges renewed from the ashes of conflagration.
We have demonstrated our capacity to uphold minority rights despite the constants instigations of the minority by the tribo-religious extremists of the South. We shall in our independent nation secure human rights, religious freedom, minority rights, cultural autonomy and we shall efface the faces of induced terrorists. Let the bakwarward tribalists and neo-crusaders die of envy. It is a quetion of time and men of my vision to take over leadership. It is written and shall it be.

They are now weeping. So accommodating that there is no seaport in the East, no rail, Ogoja still messed up, All the service chiefs are Fulani. Alcohols are demolished in the north while the Vat generated from Alcohol in the south is what you feed on. So accommodating that Bokoharam and herdsmen want to take over the south. So accommodating that MNK, Igboho are in prison because they want referendum.
Make thunder fire you.
