And what does he mean by true federalism?

We're a federal republic but practice a unitary system of governance when he says true federalism he means an actual federal system practiced by an actual federal public.

Not

This generation can do it or at least the youths can do it they've already started and there are parties currently working to achieve such Nigerians just need to wake up and choose them.

Only way to get true federalism is by voting in the right leaders and the right parties enough of APC, PDP, APGA and any other party that has won an election it's time for an alternative for the people let's all come together and build a party of the masses for the people and by the people and that party is called the Movement Of The People ( MOP ) so today i'm calling on all Nigerians to build up this great party today once and for all we cannot keep on living the way we are in this Nigeria.

...and your rant ends here. grin

Nigeria needs to break the fvck up.

We're good together, we only need to enforce our extant laws and things would begin to fall in line.

Those parties you believe captures the aspirations of the youths, going by our history since 1999 are more likely parties that are on the reserve benches of APC and PDP.

Trust me they're not the founder was Fela Kuti and we have a party constitution any old member of APC or PDP cannot join the party even if you've left from there we've done everything we could to ensure this party stays pure through and through and soon we'll be ready to start our nation wide grassroot mobilization we've only properly started in Lagos but now that more funding is coming in it's time all of Nigeria here's our mission and vision

The uneducated and impoverished masses who cannot see into the future they work from hand to mouth once they learn there's more beyond stomach infrastructure and they can have a lot better standard of living then maybe then they will start making the right choices.

No wonder they wanted the name Federal Republic of Nigeria changed to UAR ( UNITED AFRICAN REPUBLIC) to remove the Federal/Federated.

I think illiterates should be excluded from voting in the first instance, then roll out an educational program to educate them on their civic duties and responsibilities - this should be mandatory.

Excluding this group would kill off a good number of corrupt politicians (from the political scene) who thrive on the ignorance of the illiterates.

GOVERNOR NYESOM WIKE OF RIVERS STATE HAVE SET THE BALL ROLLING WITH THE VAT JUDGEMENT currently in the federal court.

Let other states governor support his move and Nigeria will be made better for us all.

The north is afraid of restructuring and true federalism.

The south must continue to take their fears away and push them to believe in their own ability.

It sounds like a good policy but it's unconstitutional to disallow people above the voting age to not vote due to their standard of education until we can effectively educate as many people as possible that law is basically discriminatory

Who will bring this to reality when almost all the southern governors are forming slavery to the north for vice president slot?

Look at the ban on open grazing and the trending VAT issues. Most of them are pretending as if they don't know what's going on.
Most of them are obsessed with their political ambition!
Re: Teslim Folarin: Nigeria Needs True Federalism To Defeat Insecurity by onuman: 4:25pm On Sep 11, 2021
Wow. True federalism sounds Greek to PMB and his Arewa north since military dictators from northern Nigeria wrongly used land mass or population as criterion to proliferate too many states in the old northern region, purposely to make Arewa suck up most of the federal allocations derived from the southern regions that the dictators allotted a miserly number of 17 states.

As people of the southern regions ask for political restructuring, northerners tell the southerners to come to the National Assembly to settle matter of political restructuring, knowing full well that the excess number of Arewa legislators drawn from the excess number of states in Arewa unduly overpopulate the National Assembly, and will never vote for the sort of political restructuring asked for by the southerners.

It's not a 'ban nor disallowing this group' as you call it but a desperate measure to salvage what's left of our type of democracy.

If we can enforce our electoral laws as well, things would fall in line.

The question is, how to do we come up with a poverty eradication program that is void of sentiments and corruption!
Regional Governance is truly the way forward, it will stop the agitation of Yoruba, Biafra, etc nation...while still under the same umbrella of one Nigeria.
It will strengthen our Security architecture and speed national development.

The true of the matter is Nigeria is a big nation... That centralising power will lead to terrible marginalisation which we are already experiencing in different part of the nation...people complaining that they don't have access to their social amenities.

Year in year out politicians keep using this unsolved problems as input for the next elections...so regional Governance is no doubt the way forward for now

Return to regional government system is no longer possible in Nigeria, because none of the existing states will like to give up its false autonomy to return to regional government system. Above all, northern region, of all places in Nigeria, shall never accept a return to regional government system. Northern states feed from the existing quasi unitary government system.
Two solutions:
1) let the non viable states mostly in northern region to merge with neighboring state, or create more states in the southern regions;
2) dissolve Nigeria into more manageable countries.

Well the desperate measure would anger the north greatly and the whole nation would collpase if such was put into law the best measure is to try and educate the people as much as possible which is what my party is doing and then from there we can give the people a better chance at choosing the right leaders

Regionalism can be easily achieved and many people want it just because the elites don't want it doesn't mean that the people don't this is something that we need to understand the people need to be given a voice which is once again something that is being done by my political party only thing that we need to get regionalism is get the right people in power who will put in the necessary changes and adjustments.
