Why the All Progressive Congress should make Goodluck Jonathan its presidential candidate.

APC’s choice of candidate for the 2023 presidential election is what many Nigerians are looking forward to. Rumours have been circulating that the ruling party is planning to field former president, Goodluck Jonathan as their presidential candidate for the next presidency comes 2023.

If the reports are legit, the former president who served Nigeria for five good years will be making a return to Aso Rock after losing the 2015 presidency to current Nigerian leader and former head of state, Muhammadu Buhari.

Goodluck Jonathan recently bagged another appointment in a different African country. This time around, he was appointed a university chancellor for his outstanding and scintillating achievements. Nigerians will be happy to see Jonathan return. But they should not expect magic from him. The former president is not the messiah Nigerians are clamouring for. But, he will at least, help the country to solve some of its current challenges.

Nigeria is being plagued with insecurity, secessionist agitation and leadership crisis. These challenges have crippled so many economic activities, including traveling, trading and many others.

As a man who worked tirelessly to ensure that Nigeria never lacked anything, Goodluck Jonathan’s wisdom and knowledge will be a turning point for Nigeria. He displayed that during his time as president. After losing the presidency to Muhammadu Buhari, Jonathan also worked with him to ensure that Nigeria remained united, irrespective of political allegiance.

Though, he has not yet talked about a possible come back to politics in 2023. But the ruling party is preparing to nominate him as their presidential candidate. They need another trustworthy leader like Muhammadu Buhari to become Nigeria’s next president. As a result, they believe Jonathan is the right man to succeed Buhari.

On that context, let’s take a look at two reasons why the ruling party should make Jonathan their presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
