This your judgement is harsh and biased. Though I don't support the way they go after the defaulters by sending texts to their contact.

But put yourself in their shoes, do you feel happy when you have a bad debtor around you?

I don't feel happy. It's strictly business. If destroying my image becomes the goal of my creditor, then that goal becomes the payment for my debts. Hence, I owe them nothing again.

Legal means should be employed in debt collection. Anything illegal, the creditor forfeits the debt.

You see one of the many reasons not to trust Nigerians with your money?

They come begging and dying for loans. Give them and see if you’ll get it back in due time.

Op,

You and other Nigerians who are loan defaulters are MAD!!!

I once gave a so called fri”ENEMY” of mine money to pay for an apartment cos I wasn’t in town and I wanted making payments ASAP to secure this apartment.

3 days passed and this caretaker kept telling me she hasn’t received any payment from any of my friends she saw when We went for the inspection.

I called the Bandit who refused picking my calls ever since I started pressurizing him to either pay for the house or send me back my funds.

Las las, the idiot sent me back about 30% of the money I gave him.

As a wise business man, I took the 30% and left the rest for him.

Today, the guy is broke and helpless. He has lost the only source of livelihood and can’t call me for any help.

I sit on my throne and watch him suffer. I’m waiting for his eventual death which will mean nothing to me.

Ciao.

Inasmuch as what the guy did was wrong, you don't have to talk like this. You are not God. He is suffering today not because he refused paying your money but because of the unbalanced nature of life. Don't rejoice when your neighbor is passing through tough times..

True.

But do you know the tougher times I passed through to raise close to half a million I gave for the rent?

You are one of those who make it extremely hard to trust people with money these days. I once loaned about 25k to a crook to pay school fees for his child and when he eventually got money to pay me he refused and kept on posting me. At a point the crook stopped picking my calls. I was only able to extract some of the cash from him before he eventually fled to another state. Nigerians have a shitload of trust issues.

They can't arrest you! But will damage your reputation beyond repair.

They will send your bvn to CBN and your bvn will be blacklisted. What this means us that you can't access any loan from any app or bank. You can't benefit from anything that requires you to input your bvn. Any account with your bvn will be seen as fraudulent account.

It's so bad that after payment, it will take some 3-4 months before CBN can clear you then your reputation and image has been badly damaged.

Just look for the money and pay. They doing what you agreed in their T&C before you took the loan.

I keep a healthy list of people whose death I am ready to celebrate. I'm sure that I'm on a list of few.

I run a Google notification nation for several of them. One day I got notified that one got arrested for pedophilia in Texas. I personally went and danced in front of his house and his office. I printed a shirt with his picture where he was wearing jail clothes and in handcuffs.

If you stand by the river long enough you'll see the body of your enemies float by grin

under normal circumstances, you cannot be arrested because the police or security agencies cannot be used for debt recovery but anything goes in this lawless country of ours.

That is how they sent me a message on WhatsApp this morning that someone on my contact list is owning them money and I shud talk to the person before they dish out further harassment to the person.
You need to see the way I insulted whoever sent me that message and he/she quickly blocked me. Useless people

1. Yes, they can arrest him for default and institute legal action.

2. They will generally not do that because the law is sympathetic towards the borrower. The court can allow the debtor to spread repayment for an indefinite period, 5 -10 years, especially if he can prove that he is bankrupt.

3. Worse still for the lender, bankruptcy law can free the borrower from the debt.

4. So they resort to underhand tactics and intimidation to get their money back.

5. Shaming the debtor is a powerful tool that works well in our clime. It is illegal, sue the lender.

But most importantly,

PAY YOUR DEBTS, DON'T RUIN ANOTHER MAN'S BUSINESS.

Exactly.... I just explained it in a layman's way

The privacy violation is in their terms and conditions. He accepted it before the loan was disbursed to him.

How about those of us who were contacts on "his" phone and didn't accept the Ts and Cs? Why would the loan shark assault us with messages for a transaction we know nothing about?

Lawlessness is in this nation. I do not understand the kind of law these loan apps operate with. I don't know about these apps until one boys started disturbing me to assist him pay back. First, he asked for N50,000 for repairing his car which I gave him, and he refunded me. And then, this loan thing came in. I told him I will not borrow him to pay back any loan because I realised he actually needed over N700k to pay all (i think up to 15 apps or so). And he used the first N50,000 fast refund as a way to show he would pay back if I had given him. I understood the game. I just hissed off, but I encouraged him what to do. I showed him how to get out of it, but he was not ready to listen, but was bent on collecting money from me (my money oooo). Maybe he was using juju, I dont know what gave him the boldness. When he realised I was not going to give him, he blocked me on the social media platform he used to communicate me. As soon as I realised it, I removed him from all my lists everywhere. Today, he is looking deperately for me again, and never will I allow such in my space again. I don't want much with him again. If I say bye bye to you and you dont take it as bye bye, na you will regret it. My bye bye is bye bye. Shikena.

Hello, I'm presently in a mess similar to this. Please I humbly ask how to get out of it as I lost my job and I took the loans when I was working hoping to use my salary and side hustle to pay them. Please I need your guidance as interest is piling and worried

Just look for their money and pay back.

Yes they can arrest u if they trace u. They have touts and crazy people on their payroll.

They will beat hell out of u and u won't be able to trace it to any loan company. They will humiliate u badly.

Please and please don't fall for the temptation of collecting another to pay this off, u will enter a strange web of loans u won't be able to manage.

My advice is that don't fall for temptation of those loan sharks. Most of them are just hiding under digital app, na Weyrey dey behind them !
I will take this advice serious

What sort of badly behaved people are we in Nigeria?
While the loan company have no right to access your contact list and call you names (that permission agreement you agreed to regardless), you are also a huge part of the problem.

Those of you who default on these loans and act a certain kind of way don't even know the extent your behaviour damages society. People like you are the reason the honest serious ones and small scale businesses can't get loans because the loan providers have either lost confidence in the system or has gone bankrupt.

The casual way you are even going about it says you are more bothered about what they can or cannot do to you than actually doing what you are supposed to do which is pay back your loan
What a statement full of wisdom

They will not arrest u, all they will do is to put your account details And bvn number under automatic credit to Their account,

The only thing that will stop u From paying them is two things, one is if you are no Longer existing on Earth and The second one is if you stop Making use of all ur bank accounts becos that bvn number u gave to Them is linked to all ur account's,

Finally try and pay becos Right now, Ur Bill is increasing on a daily basis due to extra interest being accmulated

They are operating on their own, CBN did not asked any one to be giving collateral free loan, when you decide to throw away risk matrix and do your own thing, then it's your loss, so they are operating outside guidelines,
CBN cannot approve a 7days repayment plan for any company, the minimum you can take loan under CBN guidelines is for 90days, those loan apps are operating on their own terms,
For those talking about BVN and NIN to freeze accounts, only the CBN can spool all accounts using BVN, no bank has the ability to do so, it is impossible, the real commercial banks are yet to get the go ahead from CBN to freeze defaulters accounts talkless of sokoloan, the commercial banks won't even let CBN allow loan sharks to start writing for account freeze, banks don't like freezing accounts and again the loan sharks are threat to them, so banks wants to see them go out of business.
Are threat to them why do banks find it difficult to give simple loans
