Native bones setter spoilt my right leg. I was attacked by robbers in the house I stayed in 2015, I don’t know what came over me but I tried to over power 2 malo wearing cheap Arsenal and Chelsea short. And they they saw I was possessing so much energy throwing stuffs like side stools and center table at them, they attacked furiously and when I saw their eyes I knew they were heading for the kill (get Rich or die tryin) and I ran for my dear life and jumped from a 1-storey building and broke my right leg. Like broken broken. Took me to a local bone setter as the mentality that Igbobi orthopedic hospital chops of ones leg(biggest mistake ever). I had a dislocated shoulder, broken right leg and dislocated left. Last year I did the shoulder surgery and for the time I spent fixing my shoulder whenever it pops off made the hole on the my shoulder bone bigger so the Dr,s harvested a lower limp and attached to my bone on the shoulder then use a medical iron to hold the shoulder as it’s almost perfect now as I did my physiotherapy often and even started working out. But my broken leg that was messed up by the local bone setter is still a bit mess, I can walk well but the bone was not well set, so that’s is a surgery for another time. Meanwhile my dislocated right leg still hurts.
Local bone setters is a NO NO No…

I remember when one bone doctor was trying to fix my bone, I cried so bitterly and didn't have strength to cry anymore. I begged her to wait so I could drink water and have more strength to cry. At a point I couldn't take it anymore and told her to cut off my leg. If you see as my leg swell up like new yam
I've had both tooth problem that led to extraction and fractured bone and can't decide which pain is worse. If labour pain is worse than these, then women are really trying

Omg I dislocated my shoulder joint this morning while doing a dumbbell workout. Though it corrected almost immediately, I'm still in severe pain . I've never hurt like this since I was born not even when Scorpion bit me thrice. Please what can I do I need help please

You need an X-ray of your shoulder showing the whole of your clavicle with the joints, the whole of your scapulae and the upper part of arm(humerus) and it’s articulation with the glenoid of your scapula.
If you haven’t dislocated your shoulder, it could be rotator cuff injury…the muscles are Supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis. Your shoulder joint is very shallow and prone to injury especially if you perform such actions as use of heavy dumb bells.
You need X-ray
A radiologist will look at it and describe your injury in a report.
An orthopaedic doctor fixes your shoulder or any member of the orthopaedic team.
You visit a physiotherapist to help you recover.

X-ray first.

Most of those trado-bonesetters end up doing more harm than good. To them, all bone and muscle injuries can be corrected by pulling and rubbing the area roughly. That way, they could end up aggravating what would have otherwise been a minor injury.

I STRONGLY advise anyone against patronizing them. Instead, seek out a good orthopaedic surgeon and get your injury checked out. It might be more expensive. But at least it could help save your limb.

I had a dislocation and a slight fracture according to the xray. It was on a Thursday 2012 it happened i could not move or walk my sis had to back me then on friday i noticed something moved i started walking but was still limping. Then some stupid neighbours convinced my dad to use traditional bone setters he came that same Friday did the ritual with no atom of sympathy then after that he mixed dry powdered pepper with one herb then put it inside the bandage for 7 days i could not walk funny enough i started feeling pain on my other leg.Truth be told they do more harm than good its only advisable when its only amputation thats the only solution

It was a painful experience

Last year I fell and had a fracture where I tore my tibia fibula not far from my ankle..
One calabar woman introduced the man to me, the man was coming every day for bone treatment..
Every day na hell crying infact people in my street came to chek what's was going on they tot someone died ni..
Two weeks of pains I could not stand it anymore I rushed my self to general hospital tomorrow gbagada...
The doctor first asked for scan after the result I was able to see how damaged my leg was and this calabar manwaa telling it was black blood that making my leg to swell up..
Behold pop was applied paracetamol and vitamin C.. the only drugs I used
After 4months my leg was back to normal its healed it self.. the woman that introduced me to d calabar bone setter still battling with her own leg up till now...
My advice go straight to the hospital get your leg scanned to knw the level of damage.
Let them pop your leg and wait for normally 12 weeks but was giving 2 weeks extra..
No pains no cry just the stress of using nylon to cover my leg in the bathroom..
That all
Traditional bone settle can damage your leg for life..

Over the years, mostly in my early teens, I have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with 4 dislocations, thanks to football, basketball and some rough play in school. I did my left elbow twice and suffered one dislocation on both wrist. Reflecting on the pains I had gone through on each of those challenging periods, I frankly would not wish it on my worst enemy. I often hear people complain about dental pain, I can testify that dental pain and dislocation no be mate.

I was once on the waiting cue at the bone setters place, a grown man, probably in his 50s was having his shoulder fixed, he cried and screamed so hard that he poo pooed on himself. I practically took to my heels when it got to my turn grin grin

I pray for total restoration for everyone going through this ordeal currently. The Lord is your strength.

Share your experience dealing with a dislocate limb

Some corrections:

Bone doesn't dislocate but fractures; dislocation or subluxation occurs at the joint.

The best they can do is to also dislocate a chicken's leg and watch to see how it heals. Whatever happens, it exactly what would happen to you.

I have even heard story were they said a traditional healer would call a bone fragment from site of motor vehicle accident to appear on the patient to aid the healing.

But on a serious note, although not the conventional wisdom in our local settings, traditional healers wouldn't be able to determine if a bone would need reduction, the angle and desire range of motion of the bone. Also, the chances of infection is high and the patient would have to endure excruciating pain. Additionally, other pathophysiological effect might not be well managed.

Hello, I am interested in the difference between the traditional bone setter and the modern Orthopaedic Surgery.

You can to share your knowledge?

Thanks.

It was a crazy moment..it was knee dislocation after a football match...they started first with hot water and it was the greatest pains I have ever had in my life...I pleaded like a baby..I believe during the yelling period I passed out because I couldn't remember other things that happened...then I had the bamboo wood wrapped around my knee after applying a meshed green plant in it..I had to walk with a clutches. .after two weeks of every night hot water pressing...they removed it and started applying Mmanu eke"python oil"i felt better after a month and that was how I ran away from football forever

Psoul:

I have also seen many medical doctors cause more damages to their patients in the name of giving them medical treatment.

We have silly many medical doctors out there. In the same way, we have bad trado-medical doctors.

A medical doctor that has bn handling my friend's wife antenatal checks and treatment, noticed that the young lady has Pelvis bone issue which may make it hard for the lady to deliver by herself.
He kept telling the lady and the husband that everything was ok.
Until the day of delivery, he insisted that the should push out the baby.
Even seeing that the lady was getting tired and he insisted that she should try.
Not until my wife who was standing like a mother for the girl started shouting at the doctor that can't u see that this young girl is tired or do u want the baby to die in her womb.
My wife told the husband to sign fo CS.
The doctor invited my wife and the lady's husband and opened up that the lady has Pelvis issue.
My wife was so furious that he knew this, refused to let them know before hands and he still insisted that the lady should push the baby.

Now, after the CS, the baby came out, but he sucked and swallowed the fluid in his mother's womb.
Baby is now in another specialist hospital in another state while the mother is still in the hospital recuperating.

Meanwhile, this happens to be one of the best hospitals that has branches in many states.

So you can see one of those silly medical doctors here.
Actually, the doctor did nothing wrong. The only process that determines whether a child can pass through the mother's hip or not is labour. I have seen people with apparently small hips on pelvimetry deliver with no issues and people with normal pelvimetry results almost go into obstructed labour.

I won't wish this experience for my enemy. I have had quite a number of them and the pain is what I can't even describe. The good thing is that once the dislocation has been reduced, most of the pain goes away. In my opinion, the worst dislocation one can have is that of the knee and shoulder. Not only are they so painful, that of the knee can be a tadbit difficult to reduce and then the possibility of reoccurrence is high
