And you think that doesn't happen in Newyork, Paris, London, Johannesburg??

Sometimes, y'all think what you see happening in Lagos is peculiar to Lagos. No nigga, that happens everywhere.

You are right. it happens everywhere but nobody is doing anything to improve the situation here. That's the difference

It means that companies and international businesses will rather invest in Lagos than Nigeria. It also means that Lagos is financially healthier than Nigeria as an economy.
By the time Lagos starts collecting VAT, the rating could be at par with California, New York, Berlin and Singapore etc.

I keep telling people this: Lagos can stand as a viable country of its own, with the second-largest GDP in West Africa, right after the larger Nigeria.

You are right, but Lagos is facing a dynamic problem.
Here is why

Lagos population = 23 million
Lagos GDP = $33.6 billion.

Newyork population = 8.4 million
Newyork GDP = $884 billion.

Look at the gap..... If you further check the amount both states generated within a year, you will discover that lagos state is really trying with such amount.

By the time Lagos adds VAT of over 500 billion to its IGR, that state would be something else

No wonder many states just don't want Lagos VAT collected locally

What would happen when Dangote refinery and Ibeju lekki free trade zone , Ibeju lekki Seaport begins opreations

I swear Ibadan Oyo State should please leverage more on proximity and cheapness of resources

Atleast we have standard guarge rail to Ibadan, and Dry sea inland port

What has that got to do with credit rating?

What are they doing to improve the situation in the East where you come from?
Your leaders in the East are worse than those in the North but you are talking nonsense about Lagos.
May you never see anything good in Lagos.

Beautiful. Congratulations to the 5th largest economy in Africa.

Lagos is open for business, don't put your business in places that are bad for business.

If you have a business in the North where bandits, Boko Haram, kidnappers and herdsmen are killing people, transfer your HQ to Lagos.
Dangote is from Kano but the HQ of his business is in Lagos.

If you are unfortunate enough to have a business in the East where those unserious people called Ipob are violently shutting down businesses everyday, transfer your business to Lagos. 90% of Igbo Billionaires either have businesses in Lagos have business ties to Lagos.

Lagos is open for business, don't use sentiments and put your business in places that are not conducive for business.

It is unprofessional to de-market your competitors. You can list what is in Lagos that helps business without mentioning where and where one should not go. Be guided.

Lagos is the only economically functioning state in Nigeria, the rest depends mostly on federal allocation from Abuja which Senator Ekweremadu calls Feeding Bottle Federalism. I am not from Lagos neither do I live in Lagos but this is glaring reality
Meanwhile Buhari and Lawal are busy writing to each to keep borrowing every week and reducing our rating instead of thinking out of the box.
Meanwhile 99% of the VAT is going to Godfather General. Be there deceiving yourself. Lagos as it is today ought to be far ahead in development than the current state it is in. Look at the sorry state of most of Lekki Epe expressway, when it pours, over 50% of the Island axis becomes flooded, Lagos in 2021 does not have an ocean surge barrier protecting its entire coastline. Something that coastal regions or coastal cities like Dakar in Senegal already have for years and Lagos has more money than places like that. Why has the alternate second expressway Ocean Drive not being built since? Why is the Chinese monorail project still stalling and far from completion after all these years? VAT or no VAT, nothing will change until God kills all the corrupt politicians in Nigeria.

What you have just described occurs in big cities world over. We have witnessed it severally.

However, how is the situation of roads and drainages in Abia state where your former governor and his son have eaten your life and that of your unborn generations.

Bloody ingrates.

The fact that a slave has spent 2 decades in the Palace does not make that slave a Prince.

You have a state Governor but you have lost hope in your state and have diverted your unsolicited attention to Lagos. You are a disgrace to your ancestors and generations.

I am not the one burning businesses in the East, neither am I the one encouraging banditry in the North. Lagos is not in the category of both regions as Lagos is better than both East and North put together.
Just imagine that Dangote had factories in the East, do you have an idea of what UGM and Ipob would have done to it?
. Lagos is open for investment while others are shutting out investment. That is the truth you don't want to hear.

You have it all twisted. You are the slave. To your Northern fulani masters who will contnue using your zone as a political stepping stone in connivance with your corrupted political leaders.

Fulani bootlicker, conveniently forgetting that without the presence of outsiders the economy in Lagos and across SW zone will amount to "low to zero". Most of the commerce in the SW is driven by Easterners and non-Nigerians. Alaba, Ladipo, manufacturing companies, etc. Be there deceiving yourself.

You in your misguided tribalistic, pompous, arrogance which is very common of a lot of people from your zone think you are better than me become we connected online. Delusional clown.

and do you know where exactly the poster's region is how exactly do u know it is in ruins? you are just shooting aimlessly with no basis or facts and due to misguided tribalism hate. pesin when i sure say u no know before? na lugard i blame for this nonsense. everybody just hate each other for very petty reasons. all because the poster came to earn a living in lagos, the poster should not talk about lagos politics, but when election time comes, the lagos politicians you like so much will go and beg everyone including people u claim are slaves to vote for them. we should pretend that lagos was not nigeria's former capital and heavily developed with niger delta oil wealth (NOT YORUBA WEALTH), before the northerners moved the capital to abuja. we should pretend that one abi? you think cocoa money was what financed 3rd mainland bridge that julius berger built? be there deceiving yourself. are you sure the poster is not an employer who created wealth here and has employed your brother? you are clearly immature with the way you comment. make this country quick break make everybody dey im papa house and then we will see which region will develop better. your region is one of the most educated and at the same time the most tribalistic, even worse than the hausa and fulani in tribalism. i know since I am a graduate of Ife.
