What is the trinity?

The trinity refers the three individuals of God. In other words God Almighty exist in three individuals or three individuals in one God not appearances or offices.

However, God revealed himself in the old testament in many ways. He revealed himself as The Almighty to Abraham and as Yaweh or Jehovah to Abraham.

This name is regarded specifically as the name of God the father but however, the word and The Holy spirit also operate in this name. So when the name yahweh is used in worship the other persons of the Godhead is also worshiped.

But in the new testament, the new name given to mankind is Jesus, this is the name of the incarnate son of God but again just as the first, the father and the holy ghost operate in this name and when we use the name Jesus in worship we worship the father son and holy spirit.

The holy spirit operate either in the name of the father [in the old testament] or in the name of the son [in the new testament].

Since it is only, the name of the father and the son that is revealed all worship is done in those names.

The name of the holy spirit is not revealed hence the holy spirit can't be worshiped separately from the father and son, while the name of Jesus is known as separate from the name of the father in the old testament, this means Jesus could be worshiped distinctly from the father yet all three operate under that one name.

There is no misunderstanding, we worship God in the name of Jesus, but whenever we mention yaweh or Jehovah we are reminded of his covenant with Israel, these are two dispensation. However the name Jesus is the name of the son of God but whenever we pray in that name the father responds, the holy spirit is given in that name and he also respond in that name.
