All i can say is that opinion is like an asshole, everybody has one. The only people i pity are those who take some of these claims as fact without critical examination. Just because your name is Reno Omokri with thousands of followers does'nt make you right.
Re: Poverty Is Why Many People Are Religious And Churchy - Reno Omokri by gozie85(m): 1:57pm On Sep 15, 2021
Somebody should ask him what he plans to achieve by making such a baseless claim?
Re: Poverty Is Why Many People Are Religious And Churchy - Reno Omokri by gozie85(m): 2:05pm On Sep 15, 2021
Whether rich or poor, not acknowledging God is pride. Never getting to know him is the delusion of being self-sufficient in oneself. I have seen both rich and poor atheist, rich and poor illiterates, rich and poor genuine lovers of God, rich and poor church -goers God etc. So Mr Reno should shut the f**k up.

He is not rightly not right on this. It's not poverty that is driving Nigerians to churches, but fear of the unknown.

Mr man, don't run away from reality. Pentecostals say Catholics are heretic idol worshippers - so, who's a Christian. Fact is, mouthing Jesus is the son doesn't really mean anything otherwise there won't be thousands of denominations preaching violently discordant doctrines and reading different bibles.
Abdul, there are shite Muslims and Sunni Muslims with two different believes does that stop them from been Muslims?

Every one accepting Jesus is their Lord and savior and son of God is a believer in Christ (christianity)

That is basically the definition of christianity

It is not your concern what each denomination operates

Catholics believe Mary as mother of Jesus is special towards reaching Jesus as son of God

Me I believe you have direct access to Jesus without going through mary

You are yet to tell us any violent act you have seen Christian's preaching, last time I checked they aren't the religion of sucide bombers

Below is ashura which shite Muslims embark on every year smashing their heads for bloodthirst but Sunni Muslims don't join them

Does that make the two not Muslims?

Swallow this again in pains, Christianity is the biggest religion in the world

Still so hard for folks to distinguish between Christianity and religion. Topic for another day.

To the discourse, humans were created for God's pleasure and purposes and will forever have that natural inclination to worship Him and contrary to what Mr. Reno has posited, many folks find it a lot easier to worship God, attend services, participate in church activities, when they're a lot comfortable financially and have less to worry about. It's my experience that when the credit alerts increase and bills get settled without stress, I am easily able to create time to attend extra church programs, because of the reduced hustling time. Majority of folks who attend church services these days are very comfortable financially. There was never a boom in church attendance in the days when the saying; "as poor as a church rat" prevailed. The attendance boom came with the prosperity insights and experience of today's glorious church.

That said, poverty is what actually drives people away from worshipping God as they tend to seek other means to overcome it. An hungry man will hardly be able to observe morning devotions talk more of the fare and other expenses of attending church services. Poor folks are even scared of offering time during services. The church has been doing a great job especially in Africa, giving people hope, changing their lots through spiritual principles that deliver them from poverty, hence doing what most African Government's have been unable to do. The continued triumphs of the church in Africa is the only reason the continent isn't up in flames right now. You may say there's so much corruption but if not for messages from the altar of God, changing people's attitudes, it would have spiralled out of control. The folks who travel out and forget God isn't because they're more comfortable, it's more often than not because they're working 2/3 jobs to keep up with being second class citizens in a foreign land, where bills must be settled to continue to enjoy infrastructure provided by the Government.

Lakewood church, The Potter's House and many other churches in the US are megachurches populated by vibrant young and rich folks.

So, next time you're looking to blame anything, blame your governments[/s].

Pls shut up. U just wrote rubbish

What is "the unknown" that Nigerians are afraid of?
Nigerians are afraid of sickness beyond fever and malaria. Anything else and you won't get a good hospital in Nigeria.
Ask TinuBubu et al who are constantly running to London for treatments.

Nigeria is probably one of the few places in the world people go to churches on a weekday in the morning due to lack of employment and idleness. Who get time to be going to church on a weekday during the day abroad.

You are right bro, I am saying in addiction to poverty. I agree poverty is the number one factor driving church attendance.

Absolute truth.

Give most Nigerian Christians financial empowerment and they will stop going to Church.

Many Nigerian youths become born again as soon as they finish NYSC in their effort to bribe God with fake righteousness to get a good paying job, once they get the good job and start earning heavy salary and acquire luxury cars and apartment, they remove their Church cloak and activate clubbing, partying and fvcking mode cool

Same applies to Nigerians looking for Visa to travel abroad; they turn overnight prayer warriors doing 90 days dry fasting, but once they secure the visa and travel abroad, hehe, they turn to atheist telling you how no God exist and spending all their time doing overtime at work to buy latest Gguard to attract Cardi B grin

That's why despite having the highest number of Churches and Mosques in Nigeria with over 90% of Nigerians forming religious and righteous, Nigeria remains the world capital of corruption, wickedness, bad government, worst governance and home of crimes and terrorism cry

Religion is made for Africans,
one religion teaches people to kill for 72 virgins.

while the other is bent on making people poorer, while their religious leaders gets richer, buy private jets, build expensive schools that more than 70% of the donors can't afford to send their children to.

The issue is that some people use words like they are the only ones that know how to use them

They always question the understanding of others in vain pride like a certain budaatum
Calling them trolls for not doing what they think is right

Disregarding their reasoning for no reason that is necessary
It is certain that life doesn't make sense when certain things are inevitable

There are different definitions of religion in the dictionary

People go to church for different reasons

What else?

I do not agree that life doesn't make sense, nor that certain things are inevitable!

God is written to have created you to “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground", so that you would be blessed. It literally should mean "nothing in life is inevitable if you learn to rule over yourself and plot your own life so it makes sense".

I do not agree I was created by anyone neither do I agree that life makes sense when my life makes sense

Whether or not I am happy or physically healthy or a billionaire or not
Life doesn't make sense

Life doesn't make sense even when my life makes sense

Life is that which involves the exposure of certain things to what is real including themselves randomly (anyhow), accidentally (by chance) and simultaneously towards no purpose

In other words
There's no reason why these things (whatever happens as the exposure remains) happen

How is questioning someone's understanding a way of understanding that person or anything at all?

You question the person's understanding because you don't think the person understands what you are claiming to understand

It is condescending to question the understanding of someone

It is not a proof of you trying to understand anything

The reason you call someone a troll doesn't mean you are not a troll

In other words

The person can also consider you a troll or something even worse and determine that you do things which have more unfortunate consequences towards your name

Well, it kind of did. They only had immense passion at night, and being rather busy, not that often neither, so it was either that first night or the subsequent night of passion about two week later which led to tge creation of buda unless you want to claim buda was born very premature, which the facts do not support.
