This report... Punch should do something about their editing . 1,129sqm?

That is just the size of a standard plot of land by FCT standard.

For clarity sake, are we talking about 1,129 square Km?

So Bandits, terrorists from other countries, and their brethren in Nigeria already have more than 1%, almost 2%of the country's landmass under their governorate and someone wants to increase this through nomadic grazing and cattle routes......certainly God will not allow it angry angry angry angry angry

Buhari invited these people into the country. The confession by the Fulanis was that they were invited pre-2015 elections to help dislodge GEJ in case he refuses to acknowledge defeat. Shockingly he did and so those mercenaries ended up being of no use to Buhari.

However they already had eyes for the prize money and since the government wasn't willing to give 'em money for no job done, the next best thing was to get it out of the citizens. So they occupied the forests and began operating a syndicate of abductions for ransom , robbery and terrorism. This is the more reason they had such temerity to do it and reason the government had no courage to go after them probably until now that they started torching the abode and families of the elite.

It is sad that the average politician in this country and especially the Northerners take selfish decisions that always set this country backwards several years. Even though the military too do not fare better in governance, however having a pact with terrorists and bandits like Buhari did is one thing they will never do. That is why Abacha as terrible as he was will never give insurgency a day to thrive. This is conveyed in his personal statement where he said that if insurgency lasts more than 24 hours, the government has a hand in it.

Nigerian officials and statistics.

Is it that they are occupying less than 2plots of land at 600m²/plot at every of their settlement or the total occupied area in Nigeria.

1,129m² can't enter 3 standard buildings

He is the one that is STATE SPONSORING all these terrorist to cause mayhem in the length and breadth of Nigeria.

He keeps quiet whenever his footsoldiers the fulani herders or herdsmen kill farmers.

From southern kaduna, through Plateau state, the fulani killers runs wild and go about their killing spree.

1000 square meters is about 1/4 of an acre.

Standard football pitches are about 7,000 square meters.

Does it mean bandits occupy less than a football pitch in the whole country?

This explains why they are able to kidnap many people at once & the security forces are helpless. They definitely have total control of territories where they operate.

So our almighty military can't make good use of drones to find this hide outs?

My understanding of boko boys/bandits/herdsmen issue is our security forces/govt having the mindset of a weak Christian "lemme don't talk about the devil or his works so he won't trouble me".....but the thing is it doesn't work that way as the devil's sole job is to steal kill and destroy..... Same as bandits and terrorists.

The fight must be strategically taken to them, if we hope to be victorious.

Pakistan army completes 2,640-kilometre-long (1,640 mi) border fence with Afghan

India fenced and flood-lit 461 kms of Punjab’s border with Pakistan from 1988 to 1993. The 1,048 km Rajasthan- Pakistan border was fenced and flood- lit by 1999. “Due to this, terrorism and other anti- national acts from across the border have been checked,” said a Parliamentary Standing Committee report on Border Fencing.

If Nigeria is reluctant to fence border, our forest shouldn’t be too much to surround with fence. There’s no point complaining about the logistics of such a feat, Nigeria needs to do it. This is because, hiding in Nigeria’s forest looks like what external advisers have worked out for those whose mission is to degrade Nigeria to nothing over a long period. Forest is where they intend to dig in long term. Fencing some of the more strategic forest will help Nigeria fight against all sorts of state threats and unlawful activities. Fencing these forests can also make managing wild life better; provide some aesthetic flair and begin to put it in the minds of authorities that forests can be worked on as means of tourism not Just abandoned to illegal loggers, thieves, skull miners, poachers, terrorists, bandits and the like.

South Africas Greater Kruger National Park has a fence around it. The Greater Kruger National Park consists of the Kruger National Park as well as some private reserves (Klaserie, Balule, Sabi Sand, Timbavati etc).

How big is the Kruger National Park in South Africa?
Phalaborwa, Limpopo is the only town in South Africa that borders the Kruger National Park. It is one of the largest national parks in the world, with an area of 19,485 km 2 (7,523 sq mi). The park is approximately 360 km (220 mi) long, and has an average width of 65 km (40 mi).

Create fences around some of these forests, and roads around them too for regular patrols and psychological threat even in the absence of efficient regular patrols. Building a viable nation is not cheap; Nigeria cannot penny pinch her way to industrialisation and modernity.
