Anambra Guber: Over 10,000 PDP Members Decamps to ZLP-

As political parties and stakeholders in Anambra state prepares ahead of the November 6, 2021 Governorship election, more than 10,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in southern and Northern Senatorial District of the state have decamped in droves to Dr Obiora Okonkwo’s new political party, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

According to reports, the decamping PDP members hails from Orumba North and South, Nnewi South, Ihiala, Ekwusigo and Aguata Local Government Areas of Anambra state. Others are from Onitsha North and South, Anambra East and Anambra West LGAs.

It will be recalled that after the shambolic PDP primaries in June 2021, a serving senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi, decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC), among other party leaders in the state.

Reasons given by some of the members of the party for moving to Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), was because of the overbearing attitude of the former governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi.

They also declared that their decisions were to support and work for the victory of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Guber Candidate, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, whose mandate was stolen by Peter Obi at the PDP primary in June 2021.

In the same manner, in 2017, Mr. Peter Obi stole the mandate of Obiogbolu of the PDP which eventually led to the disgraceful outing of Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze in the election.

After that disgraceful outing, Mr. Obi came out to tell Ndi Anambra that he didn’t know that Mr Obaze was not a popular Candidate.

The same scenario is currently playing out in the state today with the nomination of Valentine Ozigbo and the massive decamping of PDP members to Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
