Over the years, especially for those outside these ethnic groups, the general perception is that; "All people of the Southwest are Yorubas and speak one general language". Same as "all people of the South East are Ibos or Igbos and speak one general language." Same to the notion for the northerners.

But in the true sense of it, even within Ogun State for example, the Ijebus and Abeokutas still speak different language dialect. Though there may be common ground which many termed Lagos Yoruba, if an Ijebu man doesn't want an Osogbo man or Abeokuta man not to understand him, he can so choose to do.

Among the "Ibos" also, there're different language dialects among the people. An Ebonyi man may choose to speak in ways an Owerri or Anambra man not understand.

Same applies to the general notion for the Hausas where there're over 100 languages in the said "Northern region".

The distinct uniqueness in all these is that despite the differences among the Yorubas or Ibos, no outsider could be able to tell their differences. Such attributes is what's needed to grow a prosperous nation.

Oga, stop all these your 'one nigeria' show of shame and go buy sense.

We are currently moving towards the era when anyone who promotes 'one nigeria' in a public transport will get beaten up like a common criminal that stole a phone in traffic. grin grin
