Foremost Biafra secessionist body IPOB in a press release threatened to shut down economic activities in the South East if their leader is not provided at his next hearing.

Admittedly a controversial press statement that has achieved the aims of stating their (IPOB's) resolve in pursuit of a separate nation and steering emotions.

Many have responded emotionally (and half wittedly) to the press release without a logical assessment. Also, many who are antagonistic of the body's objectives have even smugly opined that such move would "end" IPOB.

But a careful look at the situation shows that a lockdown that long is not farfetched for IPOB who have shown grit, determination and a ruthlessly efficient and effective structure that has worried the government at both state and national level. A single option IPOB could take would be for the formidable secessionist organization to provide palliatives for the masses, ensuring they don't bother opening business across the South East for a month. If IPOB were to go ahead with this (and they are capable) it would certainly bring the faltering national economy to comatose.

As with other early warnings to the central government of IPOB's capacity this is likely to go unheeded till the hour is too late.
