Dear Mathematicians in the house....
I need you all to look at the attached picture below, and point out the spot where the whole mathematics started going wrong.
..
Thanks..

This is where it went wrong.
You are supposed to evaluate the terms in the bracket first before dividing. Remember BODMAS?

good for tricking people but a fraction is a portion of something, you cannot have a fraction of nothing.

Trying prooving without using a perfect square.
That up there is a mathematical fallacy

You can prove without using a perfect square; but doesn't mean the proof will be correct. The process is invalidated at any point there is a zero at the top and the bottom. In this case, every step – from start to finish – is invalid as 0/0 appeared in all the stages.

Had no clue. Went online to ask the same question and got this from quora

The step that is improper is when we canceled out the (10-10) from both the numerator and denominator. The reason this is against the rules is because you are basically dividing 0 by 0. It basically does this:

0*a=0*b True
0/0=b/a True
1=b/a ?
a=b. Not necessarily true

Which is not necessarily true since you can arbitrarily choose a and b.

Hope that Answers your question.

Unfortunately you are working with constants here and not variables in factorisation.

x-y/x-y will cancel out as long as X is not equal to Y
True but sometimes when it comes to mathematical theorems, we make a lot of assumptions

Everything op did is VERY correct.
However, no one can determine 0/0 exactly

It can be any other number than 2. Infact 0/0 can be any value!

He used 100, you may use another perfect square.

0/0 can't be determined PERIOD!
coolWrong. Any number divided by itself is one. That includes zero. So, zero/zero=0

Sorry this section here in the pic below is mathematically incorrect.

You have divided zero by zero (0/0) and
and that cannot happen in mathematics.

Doing that leads to a situation called 'undefined' in mathematics. Meaning that you would get an unknown result and hence you are not allowed to do it within the ambience of mathematical laws of the universe.

That has nullified the quest for your solution. The result is mathematically unacceptable.

Cheers.

Oga engineer...
You have been told what it is. Your (10 - 10) / (10 - 10) is 0/0. You took it as something like x/x = 1. But nope. It is 0. Zero. And in maths 0/0 is undefined as you have been told. This is why you always get questions which they tell you that provided x is not equal to 0. There are many question like that.

That guy above is a confirmed mathematician. You just wan use engineering brain scatter everyone's head here. grin

Bro, take your time ooo.

Actually, you are damn smart. But that guy that broke your bubbles is a confirmed mathematician. Thumbs up to you both. I love guys with brains like this. Excellent!

As you can see, your belief was proven otherwise inside the picture..
So, disprove the picture by busting the spot where they did wrong mathematics.

In mathematics, you prove or disprove things.
You don't just believe things because you were told.

If you're talking of classic maths nothin means nothing excect you add another factor there or value

Ah, zero means at all at all, nothing ,. Ko ko ko

On sub atomic zero might have a big value but that a reverse calculation fro below zero, and of course what classical mathematics can not grasp

But for now zero means emptyness
zero is unknown, and unknown means unknown, unknown is infinity, for instant u can ask who created the one that create the creations, starting from u, you are once zero, now living and enjoying life, when u died, u become zero to dust and zero u start again from where you end, another new life, zero over zero, you and God that is 2 this is the simplest way to explain this math to you, ok, the math is what define us and God, hope u understand sir

Difference of two squares sir; (10+10)(10-10) == 10² - 10² + 10² - 10² .. The two middle ones will cancel out, leaving 10² - 10².

The error was dividing (10-10) by (10-10); it’s indeterminate, not equal to 1.

Ps. Why did you spend seven years in engineering?

Hello...YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE "BODMAS" IN STEP 4
if you use BODMAS...you will be required to solve whatever is in the brackets before DIVISION.If you do that you would have gotten ZERO as your answer!

@spartialking, y saying its wrong? U are expected to correct wot ure 100% sure of. D guy is 100% correct!
Its nothing but d difference between two perfect squares. U went on expanding and yet still got it wrong. Anybody versed in maths shudnt argue dat. If u expand correctly u get x2-y2.

As for d question, its correct! 1+1 in maths can b 2 and bcoms another in other senario depends on where ure using it. Eg in advance maths like mathematical inductions, binary operations etc. E.g

25-25/(25-25)
(5²-5²)/(5²-5²)
(5+5)(5-5)/ 5(5-5)
10/5
2

Meaning u can use any perfect square figures like 1, 4 ,9, 16, 25, 36 etc dats y they use 100. Some people asking how he got 100-100,
Use subtraction of same number, it gives zero

SpatialKing:

Completely wrong

Here is the correct expansion
(x+y) (x-y) =x2-xy-yx+y2= x2+y2-2xy
