Hopefully, these videos will educate the ignorant majority who follow the herd by declaring marijuana to be evil and with no redeeming value.

The fact of the matter is that the medicinal uses of marijuana could fill a textbook, from treatment of glaucoma to appetite stimulation, to cancer prevention, to curing insomnia, to seizure abatement along with a myriad of other clinical and therapeutic applications.

The sooner the Nigerian government recognizes the gigantic economic and medical potential of cannabis cultivation, the sooner multi-billion dollar windfall profits of epic scale can be reaped by the government at all levels, and by private investors that will stampede into the country the instant the green light is given for legal cultivation to commence in Nigeria.

Good job OP, to post this timely reminder about this multifaceted medical plant called cannabis.

For the religous minded;

Cannnabis has nothing to do with religion. It is a natural plant believed to be created by God.

And all plant are given to us for medicine. Everything is given for a purpose.

The use may be regulated though with proper citizen orientation about the side effects

I agree with this distinction being made between the claims by Rastafarians that they smoke weed for religious purposes on one hand, as opposed to the empirical evidence that proves, on the other hand, that those medical benefits of cannabis are real and numerous.

The sooner all that mystical bullchit surrounding cannabis gets debunked, the sooner the medicinal applications of the plant can be taken seriously by the medical and pharmaceutical world. I love Bob Marley's music, but dang, dreadlocks are just nasty, smelly, and flea infested. Cut that chit off, Rasta men, and allow your brains to operate at cooler temperatures. All that long matted hair looks hideous and disgusting.

By all means, Rastafarians are free to claim whatever religious excuse comes into their dreadlock-overheated brains to justify their love for getting high from a legal standpoint, but those amusing declarations MUST be viewed in the wider context of there being verifiable, peer-reviewed scientific studies that document the numerous medical applications of cannabis.

Now that cannabis dealers in Nigeria are adding poisonous chemicals like PCP, methamphetamine, and fentanyl to cannabis, they are giving the otherwise beneficial plant a terrible reputation as a deadly drug, and in so doing, are destroying the chances of the plant ever being legalized in Nigeria.

Come to think of it, criminal cannabis dealers have a strong financial incentive to make damn sure that the cannabis plant is NEVER legalized because such decriminalization would put an end to the era of massive profits being reaped by those outlaws who sell weed at vastly inflated prices due to the current prohibition laws that penalize cultivation and use of weed so heavily.

There is no more effective way to demonize cannabis than to contaminate weed with deadly chemicals, rename that toxified weed as "Colorado", Arizona" or some such idiotic label, and then sell that poison-tainted product to the public, who will then post youtube videos showing the terrifying and dramatic effects of those added poisons.

I first heard about the healing benefit from a cancer patient who got cured from use of cannabis.

This is an understatement, Oga Ayo. I created an entire thread about the topic of legalizing cannabis cultivation and consumption for all Nigerians, in my capacity as Nairaland's un-elected Area Fada of Marijuana. Check it out with this link.

Only the presentation of medical facts by enlightened individuals such as our Oga Ayo will turn the tide of misinformation, and enable Nigeria's legislators to embrace modernity, common sense, and scientific enlightenment, in order to hasten the process of repealing the outmoded and destructive prohibition of cannabis in Nigeria and the rest of the world.

My hat is off to you sir, and may this noble endeavor gain acceptance in the corridors of power sooner rather than later.

Legalization initiatives aiming to decriminalize marijuana are driven by a profit motive associated with the lucrative pharmacological potential of medical marijuana, rather than by the self-preservation instincts of lawmakers who currently smoke weed in secret, although such personal agendas cannot be ruled out as a secondary concern propelling the domino effect of government decisions to legalize cannabis worldwide.

Nigerians have learnt to bastardize everything both Good and bad.
We've bastardised our independence so much that some people think the time we were under our colonial masters was much better.
We've bastardised democracy to the extent some people think the military era was better.
If they legalise canabis, we Nigerians will make sure the disadvantages outweighs the advantages.

Think positive. There is serious money to be made in the legal cannabis business, and there is no reason why those fortunes cannot be made in Nigeria, once the plant has been decriminalized by the current Buhari-led government.

Guns of certain categories are in fact perfectly legal for civilians to own with relevant permits in Nigeria, leaving only military-grade weapons and concealable pistols that are not permitted for civilian ownership. That said, illegally procured military rifles and pistols in the hands of "bandits", cattle herdsmen, armed robbers, and kidnappers have contributed to making Nigeria one of the more dangerous countries on Earth, so I do not have to "try and imagine" anything in this regard.

The analogy that you attempt to draw between LEGAL gun ownership and the proposed repeal of cannabis prohibition laws in Nigeria, is therefore founded on a flawed premise. Furthermore, despite marijuana being illegal to cultivate and use in Nigeria, the plant is widely used illegally, and that reality has not caused any major issues with the notable exception of the fact that the planting and distribution of cannabis have been cornered by criminal gangs, who would all be put out of business the instant marijuana is decriminalized in Nigeria so that it can be regulated and taxed like alcohol or any other commodity currently on sale to the public.

Achuwa1:
Same way codeine is legal but has been turned to a product for highness instead of for medication.

Codeine, Tramadol, and other pharmaceutical drugs take many lives annually worldwide, due to overdoes that can occur on even the first intoxication attempt. Currently, in the USA, diverted pharmaceutical opiate subscriptions and pharmacy armed robberies are fueling a tidal wave of premature deaths from factory-made pill overdoses whose magnitude outstrips the comparably high death toll inflicted on American society by cigarette smoking, alcohol overdoses, and drunk drivers combined.

Cannabis that is smoked or vaporized for medicinal or recreational purposes has in contrast never once been credited with the death of a single adult human being since the advent of recorded medical history. This verifiable fact does take into cognizance that a clear distinction must be made between the active ingredient content of sun-dried marijuana that is entirely free of chemical additives, and not processed into a more concentrated form, as opposed to chemically tainted cannabis that can be highly toxic and even deadly, or cannabis that has been refined using laboratory apparatus to concentrate the THC active ingredient such that it attains unnaturally elevated levels of psychoactive purity.

For this reason, cannabis ingested as a food additive can have devastating unpleasant effects never encountered by those who smoke or vaporize marijuana exclusively. The Nigerian street names of "Colorado" and Arizona", signify cannabis that has been deliberately poisoned with the addition of deadly mind-bending chemicals such as PCP, crystal methamphetamine, tramadol, and Fentanyl. Smokers of these lethal poisons do so at their own mortal peril, regardless of whether the ingestion was intentional or accidental. Legalizing medical cannabis will promptly eliminate criminals from the supply chain of cannabis, thereby allowing government agencies such as NAFDAC to routinely analyze and regulate cannabis production so that NO chemicals can be added at any point either before or subsequent to harvest.

In short, marijuana that is cultivated organically without the use of pesticides and other chemical additives both before and after harvest is absolutely incapable of causing overdoses or death. Quite to the contrary, unadulterated dry cannabis harvests with zero chemical agents added have now demonstrated a staggeringly diverse array of medically therapeutic applications that have in turn engendered a multi-billion dollar global medical marijuana industry that Nigeria would be well advised to join as expeditiously as possible.

GUESS WHAT’S IN YOUR MARIJUANA?

Cannabis, or marijuana, is a complex plant that has psychoactive and medicinal elements. It contains more than 480 naturally occurring ingredients, including at least 65 unique chemical structures called cannabinoids found in the actual plant.

What are some of the other components, you ask? Read on to find out:

Tetrahydrocannabinol
Otherwise known as “THC,” this is the major psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that gets you high, comprising up to 30 percent of the cannabis plant. THC doesn’t naturally occur in its active form, but rapidly converts from THC acid (THCA) when burned in a cigarette or heated in cooking, in a heat-propelled reaction called decarboxylation. Not much is known about THCA, but experts have found that is an effective therapeutic agent that has been used to reduce pain, relieve nausea and stimulate appetite.

Cannabidiol
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is the second most popular and well-known ingredient in cannabis. Prevalent in hemp varieties of cannabis, it actually lacks any noticeable psychoactive effects and works in concert with THC to decrease any of its psychoactive effects. If taken by itself, CBD is a pain reliever that has anti-inflammatory properties and is effective at reducing the frequency of seizures, mitigating anxiety and improving wakefulness. Unfortunately, most marijuana that’s sold to consumers has significantly lower levels of CBD because growers tend to selectively breed out the enzyme in order to produce more mind-altering levels of THC.

Cannabinol
The third most common cannabinoid is Cannabinol, or CBN, which is a byproduct of the chemical breakdown of THC after the plant is exposed to oxygen or heat. Though it lacks the strong psychoactive and medicinal qualities of THC and comprises less than one percent of cannabis, even a small amount of the CBN can have a significant, sedating effect.

Cannabigerol
Recent studies have reported on the potential medicinal value of Cannabigerol, or CBG, another ingredient that only amounts to about one percent of cannabis. For instance, studies have shown it to delay the progression of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as reduce cancer cell growth in mice.

Terpenoids
In addition to cannabinoids, marijuana contains over 100 terpenoids, which produce the unique aroma and flavor of marijuana. Researchers believe that terpenoids may also display therapeutic effects, as well.

Interestingly enough, however, there are different types of cannabis, and marijuana users have reported experiencing different highs and medicinal effects for each. This is largely due to the different chemical concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenoids in every type of marijuana.

This is a highly informative post, Oga Ayo. The science of marijuana selective breeding has made deep inroads into the very DNA of this miraculous plant whereby varieties for specific medical conditions have been perfected through careful phenotype selection, while also making it possible for recreational weed connoisseurs to plant elite strains from marijuana seeds purchased online that will yield magnificent seedless buds laden with mouth-watering flavors ranging from tangy aromatic lemon to delicious sweet strawberry.

https://www.alibongocannabisseeds.co.uk/search/?q=lemon&filter=eyIxMzEiOlsiNDM4Il19&page=1 Lemon flavor

https://www.alibongocannabisseeds.co.uk/search/?q=strawberry&filter=eyIxMzEiOlsiNDM4Il19&page=1 Strawberry flavor

https://www.alibongocannabisseeds.co.uk/search/?q=orange&filter=eyIxMzEiOlsiNDM4Il19&page=1 Orange flavor

There is no better time to be alive than today when it comes to the sheer array of medical marijuana strains that can be planted in the comfort of one's home garden where it is legal to do so. Hopefully, we will see Nigeria join this mega billion-dollar train to economic revival
