Dr. Michelle Baker, an immunologist at CSIRO who studies bat viruses, said that some research on the origin of Covid-19 has diverged from previously known research. But "we really don't know" how accurate the origin story is, she said: "It has some connection (with the Wuhan market), and someone who has been in contact with this market has been infected." Baker said, "it is very likely." The virus originated in bats. "This is a possible situation, but we will never know. The market will be cleaned up soon. We can only speculate. "These wet markets have been identified as a problem because there is indeed species interaction," She said. "This is an opportunity to highlight their danger, and it is also an opportunity to hit them. "Turner added: "We have found the ancestors of this virus, but a broader understanding of coronaviruses in other species may give us some clues about the evolution of this thing and how it jumped. "
