UKPO MONARCH MOURNS THE DEMISE OF DR. CHIKE AKUNYILI

His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr Robert Eze (Okofia VI) The Traditional Ruler of Ukpo Kingdom and the Onye Nnedo Anya Ofo Dunukofia has expressed sadness over the demise of Dr. Chike Akunyili who was murdered in cold blood by assailants whose identity remains unknown.

Speaking through his principal Secretary Ichie Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze (Ichie Chinaemeze) The revered monarch condemned the gruesome murder of the husband of the former DG of NAFDAC and Former Minister of Information Late Prof. Dora Akunyili describing it as heartless.


*In his words, "Ukpo Kingdom joins Agulu and the entire Anambra State to mourn the demise of the great physician who has made a great impact across Nigeria. His killing by yet to be identified assailants has no justification. While we mourn his demise, I call on the security agencies to deploy their men for intelligence gathering and sharing as well as partner with relevant Stakeholders to ensure that the perpetrators of this act are brought to book as well as ensure the security of the lives of Ndi Anambra this Political tensed up period."*

The monarch call for a concerted efforts by all Stakeholders to ensure that the rising spate of violent killings around Anambra is nipped in the bud and brought to an abrupt end.
