We're committed to ensuring regular power supply in Delta - Ukodhiko

Delta State Government has reaffirmed it's determination to ensure regular power supply to Deltans especially those in the rural areas.

The State Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Jonathan Ukodhiko, stated this while speaking to news men during an inspection visit to Oleh 7.5MVA transformers in Isoko South and that of Agbarho-Otor 2.5MVA transformers in Ughelli North Local Government Area respectively.

While assuring residents of government intervention in restoring power supply, Engr. Ukodhiko said "government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the purpose of the project were been felt by the people as a result of the impact of the stronger Delta vision of the Okowa led administration".

"All issues militating against the utilisation of the facility, will be critically looked into, while proffering lasting solution.

Engr Ukodhiko who was accompained by the the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Anthonia Ubogu said "the aim of the inspection was to ascertain the current state of the transformers".

In Agbarho-Otor, the representative of the contracting firm Mr. John Okwesere explained some of the challenges his firm was having with the community which made the project to suffer some set back.

Engr. Ukodhiko who frowned at the delay in putting the transformers into use stressed that the ministry would summon the community, the contractor, and BEDC in a view to resolving amicably, the lingering problems hindering the hook up of the said facility.

Mr. Okwesere commended the effort of the State Government in ensuring peace between the host community and the contracting firm.

Ukodhiko, urged respective communities to always protect government facilities against Vandals in their area as it's for the benefit of the people.

Present during the inspection were, the Ministry, Permanent Secretary, PS, Mrs Anthonia Ubogu, directors, Special Assistant, SA to the Commissioner, Pst Elueni Sunday and the Commissioner's Personal Assistant Technical, Engr. Kingsley Egwerome, among others.
