Dakunji Concerned Citizens Forum in Vwang District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State has threatened legal action against Operation Save Haven (OPSH) for alleged invasion of their community and illegal arrest of their illustrious sons.

The chairman of the Forum, Mr. Pam Dalyop Lowang, told reporters that the Military Task Force mandated to keep peace on the Plateau, invaded their village and forcefully arrested the former transitional committee Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Davou Nyango for no justification.

According to him: “On September 30, the Officers and men of the Nigerian Military under the Operation Safe Haven in Jos at the wee hours illegally invaded the residence of Nyango’s house unlawfully and force apprehended and illegally detained without knowledge of the crime he was alleged to have committed by military.”

The Community further alleged that the Task Force operated for three hours at the house of Hon. Nyango, forcefully destroyed his door and whisked him away to an unknown destination after shooting sporadically on the air without informing the community of his whereabout.

“Hon. Nyango was in the military custody and was beaten and in the process had his right eye wounded.

The most annoying aspect was that the military refused to charge or arraigned Nyango to court for over eight days while in the military custody,” he added.

Spokesman of OSH Major Ishaku Takwa, confirmed the incident to The Nation.
