I am looking at swapping my XC90 for XC60. What are you thoughts on the XC60? How are the off road capabilities, reliability, price and general issues?

From what I can read, the engine to go for is the T6 and would love to hear from those who may have had hands-on or direct experience of the Volvo XC60.

Thank you.

They're useless as a p in psychology when it comes to off-road usage.

Not as useless as the "p" in psychology as you claimed, or is the video doctored?

Have you even driven in one bro?

We're talking about Volvo XC60 and you're sending me a video of GX470 climbing some rocks?

So when a GX470 climbs some rocks then it automatically translates to Volvo XC60 being useless? What's the correlation here bro

Meanwhile...

Mr OP, when you were asking about XC60 off-road capabilities, were you thinking of going climbing on these types of rocks?

Volvo suvs are generally soft roaders. They're not seriously off-road capable from the factory.

QED.

@Kingreign, you basically sound like someone who had never use or driven a Volvo.

NOTE THE WORD IN THE VIDEO REVIEW OF THE XC60
He says *Basically Very good Of-Road Vehicle*

I say this always "It is people who have never used a Volvo that says all the Bu** sh*t about the Sweet Ride"

But you ego and trubled innerman will not let you keep quiet on thing you don't know. You just want to talk on everything

From the ops statement, he already owns an XC90, so he knows the off-road capability, he wants to swap with XC60 so he wants to know if it's ok, meaning he's like comparing XC90 with XC60.

Next time before dissing me, like a rabid dog, you might want to consider polishing up on your spellings a little more.

That said, I should remind you that you know next to nothing about Suvs and Off-roading.

I STILL MAINTAIN MY STAND, Volvo suvs are generally soft roaders and not very offroad focused vehicles. Like most crossovers, the Xc60s and XC90s are just taller station wagons or hatchbacks. I'm unapologetic about this statement.
Next diss will be met with an equally brutal rebuttal.

All this fight no dey necessary, na egos and vested interests and ulterior motives dey cause the arguments above me.

One person dey sell Volvos, so he wan use style follow back promote im hustle. Nothing wrong with that, except when you give someone half information to create a wrong impression.

The other person often likes to be seen as knowledgeable in auto matters, which he usually is. However his ego is so substantial that he can often not distinguish between when to post, and when to just ignore.

To the matter at hand

Thank you.

I no get ulterior motive, so I can tell you a thing or two about some Volvo models.

Location and environment:

If you live in Lagos, my brother get the XC60. Though e just dey enter market small small compared to XC90, parts dey especially the initial models in 2010 and so on. You get XC90 so you suppose get network for Volvo matters.

However you mentioned off roading. If na all those perpetually flooded or very rugged Lagos areas wey need ride with good ground clearance and responsive 4WD, jump and pass over the XC60, e no go give you wetin you want.

If you live in Abuja, still get the XC60, but make sure say your current XC90 network go fit work for the XC60, including sourcing parts and doing repairs, I know some guys in Zuba and Apo wey be Volvo people. Again, if your Abuja na all dem Mararaba and Gwagwalada or Kubwa areas or areas wey need rugged 4WD, jump and pass.

If you live anywhere outside those states or regions, my brother jump and pass. You fit freestyle XC90 2.5l or the 3.2l in terms of parts and repair people in other random places, but I tell you say e no go work for XC60.

The bolded, oh yes you do. Once someone says that, most times that's always the case, we all have ulterior motives for what we do.

Yours is to get some sort of attention and recognition from the men you so look up to, ok boy, you've been awarded an attention medal, so stop stalking me now, ok?

Besides, how will I be trying to sell the Volvo brand to someone who already owns one na, he owns and loves it, hence his decision to go for another, so rest now, ok?

Notice i don't even need to make all this marketing noises anymore like yesteryears, the brand has sold itself and is the new darling of naija consumers grin cheesy

Lol, as expected.

There's a saying,

When the desirable becomes unavailable or unattainable, the available becomes desirable.

In Nigeria Volvos, particularly 2003 - 2009 Volvos have always been for those looking for cheap alternatives, that's a fact I know you hate people pointing out. You would prefer to push the narrative that Volvo owners in Nigeria are all about quality and safety, lol, na wash. Their money simply no reach for better or far more desirable equivalents.

The other day I saw a post where someone was lamenting about rising Toyota Prices, someone else recommended a Volvo equivalent, the lamenter's reaction was truly hilarious.

Of course Volvos dey enter market, who no like cheap things. Substandard chinese goods as well dey enter market, but at the end of the day if we're honest to ourselves, we all know the truth.

Anyway, that's by the way, whether you want to admit the truth or not. My point on this thread was simply to offer the OP an unbiased assessment based on his question.

The fact that you had nothing to say about that opinion, but chose to go the personal route, tells readers my assessment was on point, so kudos.

Sell your Volvos in peace, the money no dey enter my account so I no too send you.

Just don't misrepresent facts to make people make uninformed choices.

LOL. These na white people activity na. I was generally referring to Nigeria's road jare. Generally, the XC90 is able to cope with most things thrown at it so I just assume the little brother is probably in the same class.

That's a serious statement to make without much to back it up. What class of road would you have 90% of Nigeria's motorway and road network? IMO, they are bad roads and no roads which put them in the same class as "off road". The XC90 hasn't failed in dealing with places I have taken it to. Sure there are times where I have been stuck but that was down to me as a driver instead of the car.

These things are tested on a snow field in Sweden and they perform well, I do expect some of those performance to even translate better on dirt and grits like we have on our road. My two cents really.

Parts isn't an issue for me. I got two shocks for the XC90 from England just in case I needed to replace them. In fact, I have extra plugs, filters and other consumable at homes that I got should in case I needed them.

My base isn't those places but Kwara and the roads are fairly okay there for daily driving. I also have a mech who specialises in all things Volvo so those angles are covered. Admittedly, I don't remember him working on a XC60 though but these things are fairly similar and it won't be much of an issues I would have thought.

Alagba, there will always be critics. If you remember correctly, there were critics before getting the Volvo XC90. I have to say that most of the concern of the critics were just hot air to be honest. The car has proven itself for my need and this is the Koko that most critics just refuse to take into consideration.

I like that it is reliable, able to self diagnose simple issue, able to cope well with Nigerian roads and it is actually a very quiet car even when revved hard.

My brother drives a Mercedes and in his opinion, he feels that the XC90 offers the same level of reliability as a merc. I don't drive a merc so cannot comment on one.

All in all, oga keep doing your thing. I have no regrets buying from you and I will most likely buy from you again. Ignore the critics. Let them keep the noise, you can keep the business tickling jare.

I am not sure how we got here but this is totally unnecessary. Whatever personal issues you have, it may be worth resolving it in private.

Your blanket statement is hilarious at best and you are opting to cast a wide net without a care who may take offence.

So I bought a Volvo because my money no reach? LOL. Hilarious. I bought what suited my need. I needed an offroader that I can use a few times in the year that I am around and guess what, the Volvo XC90 ticked all the boxes and more. And after my initial experience, I have to say Volvo has delivered on many fronts and more. There is more to personal choice than just money. But each to their own jare. Feel free to double down on your claims.

When Safety is being touted as a reason to get a Volvo, it really isn't "wash" but a statement of fact. XC 90 has 5 star NCAP rating. There are passive and active features as standard. The XC60 is literally one of the safest car Volvo has ever made. Sigh. You see, some of us value the finer details of things but I'm going to stop here. Feel free to double down like I said.
