Social media giant Facebook and its sister companies watsapp and Instagram are back online and running after a global 6-hour long outage. Millions of its users around the world were left stranded after many couldn't log in and access messages from the respective platforms.

The blackout also resulted in a mass overdrive of online traffic to competitors ;Twitter and Telegram as twitter recorded its highest ever surge of online users at a particular time.
As at the time of writing this report, Facebook, Watsapp and Instagram are all up and running again but not without any consequence, as it's Owner Mark Zuckerberg, shed of $6.7billion from his net worth according to Forbes.

Other leaders in Big Tech have also seen recent losses, according to forbes data, with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Microsoft’s Bill Gates both losing billions, too, though those losses are still comparatively minor compared to Zuckerberg’s $6.7 billion hit, as of the time of writing. The loss has put Zuckerberg at sixth on Forbes’ list of the world’s top billionaires, with Elon Musk at the top.

Zukerberg's drop in Net worth is also as a result of the expose of a whistleblower from Facebook 'Frances Haugen', who had claimed the company had been aware of some of the negative effects its platform had on its users and that the company's censorship policy was majorly for profit motive as against fighting misinformation.
