Use the taxis packed the garage/park beside the airport. Most times the drivers will be at the luggage area to assist by taking your luggage to the park, it is few walk from the airport. The taxis inside the park are well known, and the management have the details of your driver, they don’t allow misfits or strange drivers/cabs anywhere near the park. ….true story: I took a taxi one day from that park, but before leaving decided to change some foreign currencies into Naira, aboki guy did his thing, I counted the money and it ‘correct’ as we left and on our way, I recounted the money, and found out some were missing, I told the driver and we went back to the park. On getting there aboki disappeared and we reported to the park manager, surprisingly they were able to locate the aboki oga and my money was made whole. I was surprised that, they seem to know everyone doing business in that park including the abokis and their Ogas. 2 Likes |

From your narratives, you have nothing tangible you are going there for, stay away! Don't waste your life visiting that country, if going to the zoo is hungry you visit any zoo in the location you will see different sort of animals. oldienavie: |

Some of these abroad people and their exaggerated sense of paranoia. Noone cares about you! The important thing is that you should never show yourself too much in a country like Nigeria. This goes for people also living in Nigeria. Maintain a low profile and you're good to go.. |

oldienavie:/ When you pick your luggage, just go outside. There are registered cab services at the airport. Make sure the driver has an ID and confirm with other drivers. Nothing to worry about. I have never used Uber. But I have Bolt app. That's what I use. No issues. Make sure you are going to a hotel along the airport road/Ajao Estate axis (about 5-10 mins from the airport). Then the next day, you can go to your house. / |

oldienavie:Insecurity in Nigeria is over hyped. Be prepared before you board. You don't even need to book anything upfront if you don't want to. What I did was pick up random taxi at MMA. I equipped myself before boarding with stun gun, OC spray and utlmately silently recited protection verses from Quran. I kept my eyes opened and I took the cab at night. And it wasn't even within Lagos but from Lagos to other state at night. See how confident I was. Keep your eyes open and the moment you notice the driver is about chanting strange words in order to hypnotize you, spray the pepper spray in his eyes and mouth and take over the vehicle and drive to safety. This was all my plan. I was well equipped but fortunately the driver didn't mess up. He was a good man. I was ready for him lol 1 Like |

This panic is unnecessary. Booking Uber is even more safe than getting an hotel pick up. Most cabs at hotels are not run or have any relationship with the hotel. It is very rare to get kidnapped by an Uber driver as they all verified by the platform. Just confirm the car color, make, plate number and the driver’s face match what you have on your app and you’re good to go. Those Uber drivers has more risk of being killed and their car snatched or robbed by the riders they picked up. Going by the statistics and records, more Uber drivers are at more risk than their clients in Lagos. Lemme tell you this for free, they’re even more scared of their passengers than you should for them. On few occasions, drivers that has tendencies to kidnap don’t have any or all of their details tally with what you have on your app and that happens 90% at late nights. All rides in the broad day light, with the drivers details correct with what you’re shown is very safe 2 Likes 1 Share |

Uber and bolt d drivers can set u up...they can arrange with arm robbers or even police...uber has arranged me with SARS before....so what I do is that...I negotiate with the driver at the airport...from point of negotiation I follow up every conversation he will be having...if he acts weird I alight and take another....the time between which u call uber or bolt is too long for them to arrange u especially since they know your destination...or netter still put another address and wen the uber or bolt arrive change d destination.... 1 Like |

babyfaceafrica:Lol. The world is surely crazy but insecurity (especially kidnapping) in Nigeria is not a world wide thing. Insecurity in places like south America usually involves drugs and gangs, in Nigeria every one is a target. |

If you can, get someone to come and pick you. What people aren't telling you is that the distance from the arrival lounge to the pick up point is far!! Before you will start looking for the cab, then all those touts who will descend on your like a hawk to assist you then bill you 10k for doing nothing. And let me be honest with you, using Uber and bolt in Nigeria is a pain in bum. They will first ask you cash or card? Then if they feel like, they will tell you that they aren't going and will cancel the trip. |

oldienavie: You are a visitor as far as I know because it's long you left Nigeria and so many things have changed from bad to worst Tell your immediate family to find a trusted person to come and pick you up from the airport The person can be their trusted neighbors A friend to the family Their church members These are the people that you need, so that when you get home and get settled, you will now decide on what to use if you need to go around These people I mentioned are traceable, in case the story goes another direction |

Op is this your first time in nigeria if not then i am shocked that your family didnt give you the phone number to a trusted driver. Anytime i go to nigeria with my family we have a trusted driver for years that pick us up from the airport to the hotel or a family member that live in lagos as a backup. oldienavie: |

akinsmyk: Thank you o bros. I am an Uber driver and trust me this kind of person are the kind of passengers I even run from. Because they're too paranoid, anything you do is suspicious to them. At the end of the day they end up drawing unwanted and unwarranted attention to themselves. 1 Like |

Uber is still safe in Lagos to some point, you just have to be very careful in the sense that if you order for a ride, make sure the car driver details correspond with the one showing on the App, i.e plate number, driver picture and the name on the account.. and once you get to your destination and if you feel convenient with the driver, then you can call him over and over and discuss well with him for offline..and if you are not satisfied with him, once you get home then you look for alternative..but frankly speaking driver and more vulnerable to attack than rider..wish you all the best sir.thanks.. I also drive Uber too so speaking from experience.. >: oldienavie: |
